It’s a question that has been debated for years: can you dye synthetic hair?

The answer, as it turns out, is yes – with a few caveats. In this article, we’ll explore the best ways to dye synthetic hair so that you can get the results you want.

We’ll also take a look at some of the potential problems and how to avoid them. So read on to learn all you need to know about dying synthetic hair!

color synthetic wig

What is Synthetic Hair?

Synthetic hair is a fiber made to mimic human hair. It is often used in wigs, hair extensions, and weaves. Synthetic hair is usually made from polymers that are designed to be heat-resistant and durable.

However, synthetic hair can be more difficult to style than real hair, and it may not last as long. Synthetic hair is cheaper than human hair, but it is also less durable and can look artificial.

Synthetic hair can be a great option for people who want to change their hair color or style frequently and who want a more affordable option than human hair.

Synthetic hair can be styled using heat tools, and it comes in a wide variety of colors and textures. Let’s take a closer look at the dying synthetic wig!

Can You Dye a Synthetic Wig?

Yes, you can technically dye a synthetic wig, but we don’t recommend it. Results may not be what you expect. As we mentioned before, synthetic wigs are made from man-made fibers, which can react differently to hair dye than natural hair does.

Before you dye your synthetic wig, we recommend doing a patch test to see how the wig will react to the dye. To do a patch test, apply a small amount of hair dye to a hidden area of the wig.Advertisements

Wait 24 hours to see how the wig reacts to the hair dye. If there is no reaction, you can proceed with dying your synthetic wig.

Keep in mind that the results may not be as vibrant or long-lasting as they would be on natural hair.

Also, wigs made from synthetic materials are plentiful in a wide variety of colors, and dyeing them is not yet a widely accepted concept.

So, if you’re looking to change your wig’s color, we recommend buying a new wig in the color you want, rather than trying to dye your current synthetic wig.

But what do you do if you need to dye synthetic hair? Let’s break it down.

How to Dye Synthetic Hair?

If you’re looking to change up your look, or simply want to experiment with a new color, you may be wondering if it’s possible to color a synthetic wig.

We have already written to you that this is not a good idea, but if you still want to do it, then there are a few things you need to keep in mind in order to ensure that the process goes smoothly and that your new color looks its best.

To start, it’s important to choose a dye that is specifically designed for fabric dye (for polyester and synthetic materials). Using a regular hair dye on synthetic hair can damage the fibers and cause the color to turn out uneven or muddy-looking.

When dying synthetic hair, it’s also important to avoid using heat. This means no blow dryers, curling irons, or flat irons. The heat can damage the hair fibers and cause the color to fade prematurely.

Finally, be sure to follow the instructions on the dye package carefully. Synthetic hair doesn’t take color as readily as natural hair, so it’s important not to leave the dye in for too long. Doing so can result in uneven color or even damage to the hair fibers.

With these tips in mind, dying synthetic hair is a breeze! Just be sure to use the right products and follow the directions carefully, and you’ll end up with a beautiful, vibrant color that lasts.

AdvertisementsHow to Take Care of Synthetic Hair?

How long do synthetic wigs last? A synthetic wig can last anywhere from 2 to 6 months, depending on how well it is cared for. Synthetic wigs are more delicate than human hair wigs and require special care to extend their lifespan.Advertisements

To get the most out of your synthetic wig, you need to take care of it properly. When it comes to taking care of synthetic hair, there are a few things you need to keep in mind.

Synthetic hair is made from different materials than your natural hair, so it requires different care. Here are a few tips on how to take care of synthetic hair:

dying synthetic wig

  1. Avoid using harsh chemicals or heat-styling tools on synthetic hair. These can damage the fibers and cause them to break down over time.
  2. Be gentle when brushing and combing synthetic hair. Use a wide-toothed comb or brush with soft bristles to avoid damaging the fibers.
  3. When washing synthetic hair, use a mild shampoo and conditioner designed for sensitive scalp and avoid rubbing the strands too vigorously.
  4. Allow synthetic hair to air dry whenever possible. If you must use heat, set it on the lowest setting and use a diffuser to avoid damaging the fibers.
  5. Store synthetic hair in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid exposure to sunlight or other sources of heat, as this can damage the fibers.

By following these simple tips, you can extend the lifespan of your synthetic wig and keep it looking its best.

Is Human Hair Preferable to Synthetic?

There are pros and cons to both human hair and synthetic hair extensions. Ultimately, the decision of which type of hair to get depends on your own personal preferences and needs.

If you’re looking for natural-looking extensions that will blend in seamlessly with your own hair, human hair is the way to go. Human hair can be styled just like your own hair, so you can curl it, straighten it, or wear it in any style you want.

However, human hair extensions are also more expensive than synthetic ones, and they require more care and maintenance. Synthetic hair extensions are a great option if you’re looking for a more affordable option that’s still easy to style.

dying synthetic hair

Synthetic hair comes in a variety of colors and textures, so you can find the perfect match for your own hair. However, synthetic hair extensions can’t be styled with heat tools like curling irons and hair straighteners, so you’ll need to be more careful when styling them.

Ultimately, the decision of which type of hair extension to get depends on your own personal preferences and needs. There are two types of hair extensions: human hair and synthetic hair.Advertisements

Human hair is more expensive, but it can be styled in any way you want. Synthetic hair is cheaper, but it is not as easy to style. However, both types of extensions need to be taken care of properly in order to last.

FAQ

Can you dye a synthetic wig with food coloring?

Yes, you can dye synthetic hair with food coloring. The color will be less vibrant than if you had used a hair dye specifically designed for synthetic hair, but it can still be done. It is important to make sure that you use a non-toxic food coloring, as some of the ingredients in regular hair dyes can be harmful.

Can you bleach a synthetic wig?

You’re also most likely wondering how to make a synthetic wig lighter. Unfortunately, synthetic wigs cannot be bleached. Whatever dye you’re using must be a darker color than the one you’re dying on.

Can you dye synthetic hair with semi permanent dye?

To alter the color of your hair, it must be able to permeate through your hair. It is ineffective against synthetic fibers. To change the hue of a strand of hair, even semi-permanent hair dye still needs to get into the cuticle layer and change the color of each strand – which is not possible with manufactured materials!

Can you dye synthetic hair with box dye?

Because the ammonia and other harsh chemicals in the color will damage the fibers. As a result, the only answer to the question “can synthetic hair be dyed with a box dye?” is no. Your hair extensions will be irreparably damaged.

Summary

Dyeing synthetic hair can be a challenge, but with the right products and careful instructions, it can be a breeze. When dying synthetic hair, it’s important to use a dye that is specifically designed for fabric dye (for polyester and synthetic materials).

It’s also important to avoid using heat, as heat can damage the hair fibers and cause the color to fade prematurely. Finally, be sure to follow the instructions on the dye package carefully.Advertisements

What does a typical day at Luxy look like for you?

Before work, I love having a breakfast shake and listening to a podcast to ease into the day. I like starting work early to get my everyday tasks out of the way before working on special projects.

Some of those tasks include engaging with affiliate content on socials, researching new affiliates and influencers for upcoming campaigns, and reviewing affiliate applications.

Afterward, I work on other tasks and projects including TikTok & YouTube content creation, creating campaign decks, and helping out with managing influencers and affiliates.

Describe your WFH outfit

I’m pretty minimal when it comes to fashion and I love comfort so most days you can find me in a crewneck, sweatpants, and a top knot bun. On Fridays I film content so I use that day to play around with some more fashionable outfits!

Why did you decide to pursue a career in this field?

I went to school for Fashion Communications and always knew I wanted to be in the fashion and beauty industry, but never knew exactly what my job title would be. I told myself going into university that I would use the next four years to soak up as much info as possible and broaden my skill set.

As the years went by I found myself always gravitating towards marketing, promotions, and social media related projects. From that, I knew that was where I was meant to be!

Who is your hair inspo and why?

Normani! She has a similar bone structure and complexion to me so I always go to her for hair inspo. I know if she tries a hairstyle it’s safe for me to do it too! 😂

Favourite thing about working at Luxy?

It’s a hard pick between the people, culture and my role itself. Luxy is made up of a group of phenomenal women who are so welcoming, creative, and are always looking to grow! I love that mindset and gratitude is a big focus within the team. On the other side, I love the range in my role. Between my affiliate/influencer work and content creation, I get to use both my analytical and creative sides!

What are your favorite emojis to use?

😂   💁🏾‍♀️

What are 3 things you are grateful for and why?

Family and friends, good health, and opportunities

What is your favorite snack?

I’m all about balance so I’ll have a bowl of fruit and then a bag of chips (sweet chilli heat to be exact).

Describe your self-care routine

I’m all about fuelling your mind, body, and soul so some of my favourite self-care activities are: skincare, listening to a podcast, working out, sleep, and giving myself time alone to recharge.

Which social platform is your favorite and who do you enjoy following the most and why?

My favorite social platform is Instagram for sure! My favorite person to follow is fashion content creator Ellie Joslin (@missjoslin). She has such a great sense of style and I always go to her page for inspo!

What was the last book that you read that made a huge impact on your life?

Atomic Habits. Honorable mention goes to the 4 Agreements.

What is your daily mantra or words to live by?

Accept the things you cannot change, have the courage to change the things you can, and have the  wisdom the know the difference

What’s your horoscope sign and how would you describe yourself in 3 words?

I’m a Scorpio ♏️ I definitely think I’m true to the sign! I’m super passionate, creative, and loyal.

When it comes to acne, it’s easy to treat a little whitehead that pops all. All you really have to do is put a pimple sticker on it. Blackheads are equally treatable with a pore-unclogging BHA serum. But those deep, painful, under-the-skin breakouts? Without a trip to the derm for a cortisone injection, they’re tough to get rid of. Murad’s Deep Relief Acne Treatment is here to help. Its formula targets even the deepest pimples, like the hormonal ones you get during PMS. The worst.

And for Black Friday, it’s on sale! This newly popular serum is 30 percent off and includes free shipping with code BF2022. That makes it just $30.80! You can also score a free full-size Vita-C Facial (a $79 value) with a $150+ purchase.

Here’s how it works. The formula contains 2 percent salicylic acid, a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) derived from willow bark. It’s stellar at penetrating and unclogging pores, killing acne-causing bacteria on the spot. Salicylic acid also helps clear whiteheads and blackheads thanks to its exfoliating power. Any skin type can use it — and should — but those with combination and oily skin will find it especially helpful for controlling excess oils.

murad deep releif

Murad.

Working with salicylic acid is a plant-based phytosteroid that reduces redness and hydrates for that quick overnight relief. There’s also what the brand calls “Amino Acid Technology” to calm irritation. To ensure all the ingredients don’t just rub off your skin, the formula also contains an invisible film-forming polymer to hold all the actives in place.

And the results are in. TikToker @lalaluvbeauty tried the treatment on “very congested, deep set acne” on her cheek. After one day, she noticed a major difference in the size and said it was looking “a lot better.” She shows each day in the video, finishing at day five when her acne is barely noticeable. “This is unreal,” she says. “Best thing I’ve ever used, hands down.” You love to see it.

Now, if you have cystic acne, you know there’s no long-term quick fix. But this formula can tone down redness, flatten pimples and overall make your skin feel a lot more comfortable. Used day and night, you’ll also see long-term effects. In Murad’s study of 33 participants over two weeks, a whopping 88 percent said the treatment “calms and soothes acne bumps.”

Since salicylic acid can be a bit drying, especially on those with normal or dry skin, be sure to always follow up the treatment with an oil-free moisturizer that hydrates without clogging pores. And never forget to add sunscreen if using it during the day. Head to Murad’s website to grab this new acne fighter today.

Maybe you’re over-coloring your hair the same shade every six weeks, or maybe you’re a newbie to this whole coloring-your-hair-thing. Before you decide to trade in your jet black for an ash blonde, let’s take a look at the ultimate hair color chart that includes a list of hair colors with pictures to help you find the excellent way to add a perfect shade that won’t leave you hiding under a hat and calling your hairdresser for an emergency color correct.

Using A Hair Color Chart

Considering your natural hair color and skin tone is a must when determining the right hair colors and shades. To avoid looking washed out, first choose a hair color that isn’t too close to the same shade as your skin tone, as well as one that doesn’t jump more than two shades darker or lighter than your base color. Here’s a quick look at the best hair color for skin tone chart before we get into the details:

How To Choose The Best Hair Color For You - Hair Color Chart | hair color chart | Hairstyleonpoint.comSee something you like? Keep scrolling to see which hair color trends in the hair color chart are perfect for you. Find the right hair color and a flattering shade below:

Blonde Hair Color Ideas

Platinum Blonde Hair

Platinum Blonde Hair

@bel_pipsqueekinsaigon

Fair tones, as well as pale skin with yellow hues work well with this icy hair dye. Platinum blondes tend to appear washed out, so adding a pop of color to your lips and cheeks helps avoid looking ghostly. If you’re interested in the next shade lighter than platinum, check out our guide on How To Get White Hair.

Light Blonde

Light Blonde

@adrehair

This vibrant shade is one of our favorites on the hair color chart and isn’t exclusively for fair skin tones and light eyes, although that is a classic combination. Features like Selena Gomez’ (dark eyes and medium skin) complement the light blonde hair color as long as your colorist blends it with your natural color and roots. If you’re concerned about going too light, don’t do an overall color, and try giving caramel highlights add depth and dimension.

Golden Blonde

Golden Blonde

@thestrawberryblonder

Warm tones for blondes are compatible with light and medium skin tones, with the exception of yellow and red skin undertones. Golden blonde is one of the shades that tends to fade into a brassy hue, so it is recommended that you use a purple shampoo to protect your color and avoid unwanted orange hues.

Ash Blonde

How To Choose The Best Hair Color For You - Hair Color Chart | Ash Blonde |Hairstyle On Point

Ash blonde and silver hair are the hair color trends that have been the most popular for blondes and brunettes equally in the beauty industry in recent years. Gray-blonde hair colors help cancel out redness in the skin and is a great color to add dimension to a dull shade.

Medium/Dark Blonde

Medium/Dark Blonde

@hiusstudiohohde

Typically, medium and dark blonde hues are blended with other shades of dark brown hair to create the “bronde” look. Adding either of these warm blonde tones to your hair will look best on medium and darker skin colors, creating depth and dimension on dark hair.

Brunette Hair Color Ideas

Light Brown

Light Brown

@handtiedmanes

This is a go-to summer look for many brunettes. Opt for a light brown if you have warmer skin tones or have a sun-tanned glow (think J-Lo).

Caramel

Caramel

@live_love_dohair

Similar to light brown, caramel color compliments warmer, golden skin tones and darker eyes and does not work well with red skin undertones. You can get a total caramel color, ask your hairstylist to give you highlights or blend this shade smoothly into your dark brown hair in an ombre technique.

Ash Brown

Ash Brown

@_mymyhair

This cool shade of brown is natural-looking on those with cooler complexion. Ash tends to clash with red hues in the hair or skin, but blends beautifully with cool blonde highlights.

Chocolate Brown

Chocolate Brown

@parisrosehairartistry

It seems like most brown hair colors fit warmer complexion, but chocolate brown is a standard brunette shade perfect for fair skin and light eyes. This slightly reddish brown can cover even black hair.

Dark Brown

Dark Brown

@ricardoalonsobeauty

You can find these shades being called espresso or mahogany – each of them complimenting olive skin tones. Dark eyes paired with a deep, rich brunette makes striking images.

Red Hair Color Ideas

Strawberry Blonde

Strawberry Blonde

@caitlyncabanhair

When found naturally, this underrated red hair color is typically paired with fair skin. This reddish mix combines well with light eyes and warm skin tones. Keep in mind this is one of the shades that tends to wash out fair skin tones, so adding a bit of blush or bronzer to your daily images wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Copper

How To Choose The Best Hair Color For You - Hair Color Chart | Copper | Hairstyle On Point

Copper is a vibrant red and may look unnatural as an all-over color. Blending with other shades of red like auburn hair color works well with warmer skin tones and creates a more natural look.

Red Brown

How To Choose The Best Hair Color For You - Hair Color Chart | Red Brown | Hairstyle On Point

This color is typically achieved by dying a head of medium brown hair with a deep, red hue and looks natural with a medium skin tone. Since this shade of red fades rather quickly, it is recommended that you use an anti-fade shampoo. (We love Pureology’s Reviving Red for color treated hair.)

Violet Red

How To Choose The Best Hair Color For You - Hair Color Chart | Violet Red | Hairstyle On Point

There’s nothing trendier than rocking a violet red hue, which compliments cooler, darker skin tones.

Black Hair Color Ideas

How To Choose The Best Hair Color For You - Hair Color Chart | Black Hair Color | Hairstyle On Point

Going with black hair is risky if it isn’t your natural shade. But, if you have a cooler skin tone, this look can be achieved. If you’re not quite ready to go jet black, there are a number of warmer black shades with brown and purple undertones that look beautiful next to warmer, darker skin tones.

Bold Hair Colors: Blues & Purples

How To Choose The Best Hair Color For You - Hair Color Chart | Lilac Hair Color | Hairstyle On Point

Vibrant colors like blue and purple have gone in and out of style over the years, but celebs like Gigi Hadid and Bella Thorne have been seen rocking the bold shades recently. With lighter skin tones, you can pull off colors like lilac and light blue, while darker skin tones match well with dark purple and bright blue.

These shades on the hair color chart are easiest to achieve when coloring lighter hair and don’t typically turn out as bold or vibrant on brunettes. Though it’s an added step, lightening your hair prior to putting in the color will ensure an overall brighter, edgier look.

Metallic Hair Color Ideas

How To Choose The Best Hair Color For You - Hair Color Chart | Rose Gold Hair Color | Hairstyle On Point

Using metallic hair color works a lot like blues and purples, but rather than the matte of a bold color, you’ll get a shimmering, exotic look. The lighter your natural hair, the easier it is to see the difference metallic hair dye makes, but dark natural hair will still take to the shimmer; it just won’t be as bold unless you choose to lighten your natural hair beforehand. In fact, we love this hair color ida so much we created an entire metallic hair dye guide about it for you.

Found your perfect shade with our hair color chart? Now it’s time to find the best hairstyles for your face shape and book your next salon visit.

#1. First off, what is a perm?

A perm (short for permanent hairstyle) uses chemicals to change the texture of your hair. The process involves breaking down the molecular bonds in each strand and resetting them to your desired pattern, so you can turn straight hair into curls or waves. Whether you get a hot or a cold perm, rods and rollers will be applied to your strands to get the job done.

#2. What’s the difference between a hot vs. a cold perm?

Both treatments change the texture of your hair, but the processes are different. A cold perm uses an alkaline solution (like ammonium thioglycolate), which is applied onto dry hair before its wrapped around rods, which results in tighter, more defined curls. This option tends to be more common because it’s cheaper and quicker than hot perms. A hot perm uses an acidic solution (like glyceryl monothioglycolate), which is applied onto wet hair, but your strands are wrapped around heated rods instead. This process creates larger, looser curls and is often less damaging due to the solution that’s used. A hot perm also tends to yield more natural-looking results and is a great choice for fine or damaged strands.

#3. What type of perm should I get?

The type of perm you should get comes down to a few factors: your hair length and texture, whether you want to focus on your whole head or specific sections and what you’re trying to achieve with the perm. (I.e., Are you looking to create more volume, bounce, curls, waves or all of the above?) You also want to consider how long you want to rock your perm, as some last for two months, while others can last for up to a year.

Lest you start to feel overwhelmed, we’ll walk you through a guide to the 11 different types of perms you can get below.

#4 Spiral Perm

This classic perm yields tight, corkscrew-shaped curls. It’s typically favored by people with shoulder-length and longer hair, as the style can make your locks appear shorter. The technique uses a strong chemical solution and your hair is wrapped vertically around rods to achieve a spiral pattern. Since the spiral perm is very time-consuming to do (it can take about two to five hours), it requires the most maintenance out of the bunch. However, results can last around six months.

#5 Beach Wave Perm

You don’t have to make a trip to the beach to get massive waves. A beach wave perm provides that soft, tousled look (only it lasts up to four months, as opposed to one day). If you have straight hair and need a volume boost, the stylist will apply foam rollers and a chemical solution to create that loose, bouncy effect.

#6 Body Wave Perm

Have a tough time holding a curl? Similar to the beach wave perm, this treatment creates bigger, looser waves. The body wave perm uses large rollers (or rods) to add volume and shape to super straight strands. It’s one of the most popular perms because you get a natural-looking wave and it’s fairly low-maintenance, as results last between three to five months.

#7 Digital Perm

The perm is one of the newer styles you can get. Trademarked in Japan in 2007, the digital perm has since made its way to other parts of the world. The longest lasting of the bunch, with results lasting for up to a year, this high-tech perm uses gentler chemicals that recondition and repair hair (unlike many traditional perms that rely on harsh chemicals). Strands are wrapped around temperature-controlled rods to create loose waves and overall, more voluminous tresses. The biggest downside? The process takes several hours to complete and is among the most expensive perms on the list.

#8 Pin Curl Perm

While anyone can enjoy this retro perm, people with shorter hair tend to benefit most from the tighter, bouncier ringlets it creates. Instead of rods or rollers, bobby pins and clips are used to get the curls into shape. Another reason to consider this perm: Fewer and less harsh chemicals are used and it only takes about 20 minutes, so you can spend less time in the salon. Results last for about three to six months.

#9 Spot Perm

Spot perm (also known as the partial perm) targets a specific section of your hair. Whether you’re just looking to add volume at the crown of your head or need help covering an area that’s thinning, chemicals and rods are used only in that area. This type of perm can also be helpful for curly gals who want to create a more uniform look all around. Since you’re only perming a portion of your hair, touch ups are recommended every few weeks.

#10 Root Perm

Another partial perm, this one only deals with the roots. To add lift, the solution is applied two to four inches away from the scalp before the section is wrapped around perm rods. Similar to the spot perm, it’s a great treatment for anyone who wants more volume but isn’t looking to perm their entire mane. You’ll also have to get regular touch ups to maintain the look.

#11 Stack Perm

Joining the partial perm family, this treatment skips the roots and focuses on the mid-shaft and ends of the hair to create the illusion of layers. To achieve the look, perm rods of different sizes are applied throughout various sections of your hair. As a result, you get more depth and dimension that last between four and five months.

#12 Multi-Textured Perm

This multi-textured style is similar to a stack perm in that it also yields a layered look and a variety of rods are used to create a combination of tight and loose curls throughout the mane that lasts for several months. It’s a great choice for medium-length and longer locks because it really allows you to show off the layers.

#13 Volumizing Perm

As its name implies, this type of perm provides voluminous waves and is a great option for people with fine, flat hair. A variety of rods are used to create loose curls and bounce throughout. While it uses the same strong chemical solutions as the spiral perm, it only lasts around six weeks and requires regular touch ups to keep the shape.

#14 Straight Perm

This one is the complete opposite of the other types of perms on this list. Also known as the “reverse perm,” a straight perm turns natural curly hair straight. This hot perm uses an alkaline solution to break down the bonds, but this time, it stretches out the curly or wavy patterns in your hair. Along with the chemicals, a flat iron is used to straighten strands for a sleeker style. Although the treatment takes at least six hours to complete, the look lasts for three to six months.

In a world of marketing spin and spiel, navigating the skincare aisles has never been so difficult. Beauty jargon and bogus claims are everywhere, with new A-list botanicals and compounds popping up every five seconds, promising to give us glass skin and turn back time.

“There’s just so much noise in skincare at the moment,” says Susie, founder and CEO of Tropic. “Sometimes it seems that brands add plant actives to their formulas to respond to trends. But often, their products are created by cookie cutter manufacturers, and lack proper research or scientific backing.” Amidst all the clean beauty gloss and vegan glamour, the proof is in the percentages. At Tropic, it all comes down to real skin, qualified dermatologists, trusty technology, and weeks of rigorous clinical testing.

SO, WHAT IS ‘CLINICAL TESTING’?

Clinical trials and scientific backing are second to none when it comes to knowing what’s really going to get you glowing. So, what is clinical testing?

First, Tropic’s in-house chemists and biochemists spend months testing, trialling, and adapting formulas, until they’re ready for the big assessments. Then, they send their ‘pride and joys’ away to ISO-certified, independent labs (which adhere to an international standard of testing and data validation practices) where they’re met by qualified dermatologists, who vigorously test their performance on real skin, under clinical conditions.

“We only arrange independent clinical testing once we’re confident in our formulas,” says Susie. “Tropic is at the forefront of beauty technology. We’ve invested in state-of-the-art machinery that measures every aspect of the skin, from redness to elasticity to pigmentation.

This is how we conduct internal studies on our formulas to ensure they really do have an impact,” she explains. So, before they even get examined, Tropic’s products have already jumped through a lot of hoops. But these clinical tests are no piece of cake. The assessments begin when four to five dermatologists assess a group of random volunteers (usually around 20-25 people, but sometimes up to 80) and screen their skin, ensuring everyone has skin in need of a specific type of nourishment.

THE SCIENCE OF SUPERCHARGED SKIN

The first round is the allergy patch test, and if the product gets through this stage, it passes to round two. Then it’s on your marks, get set, test! The volunteers use Tropic’s formulas every day, while dermatologists assess changes in their skin. This isn’t done ‘by eye’ or guesswork. “The lab scientists use various scientific instruments to measure the impact the product has on skin,” confirms Tropic’s biochemist, Kavitha Murugesan.

There are Sebometers to measure changes in skin’s sebum production, Skin Hydration Meters, and the mother of all testers: VisioFace Skin Imaging Analysis – a 360-degree machine that can measure skin texture, wrinkle depth, brightness, UV damage, and take 3D pictures of your skin.

Once the ‘before and after’ difference in all of the testers’ skin has been analysed, the data is totted up by the lab’s clinical statistician. “An average percentage of improvement is calculated and handed to us on results day,” says Kavitha. If the results are anything less than jaw-dropping, Tropic sends the formulas back to the lab at Tropic HQ for improvement.

As Kavitha says, “We keep going until the product is the most effective it can possibly be.”

It’s empowering to feel full confidence in your skincare, and Tropic’s plant-powered products prove time and again that they deserve their exalted status, awards, and a place on your bathroom shelf. With advanced tech, clinical trials, and a pioneering attitude, it’s exciting to think about what’s next for their formulations. Rest assured – the future of Tropic is as bright as your beautiful, glowing skin.

After sleeping for eight hours, it’s safe to say that your skin may feel and look a bit dull and lifeless. If that sounds familiar, then you may be in need of an exfoliating cleanser to give your skin a boost. For Black Friday, Peace Out is offering 30 percent off on all products sitewide, including their popular Blemish Balm that you can get for $15.

If you have more oily and blemish-prone skin, then you’ll benefit most from this cleanser since it actively works to wash away excess oil without completely drying out the skin. You may be wondering how this cleanser works? Well, it’s a result of a clean and non-irritating formula cultivated from high quality ingredients.

Made with salicylic acid and hyaluronic acid, this blemish balm exfoliates and refines the look of pores while creating a smooth and calm appearance. It may sound too good to be true, but it really works. You may even feel it working with a slight physical sensation caused by biodegradable cellulose as it removes build-up on the skin.
