We woke up to the news we needed on Monday morning—Meghan Markle, of Montecito, California, had sat for the cover of The Cut. Rocking an ever-so-chic slicked-back bun, she stared into the camera oozing the poise and confidence she’s known for. Markle wears her hair back frequently, but it’s often more casual and messy. A tendril or two of hair is pulled out to frame her face or she reveals a tousled ponytail when she turns her head. But on this cover, her hair is smoothed all the way down. And somehow, she doesn’t look like George Washington, the way so many of the rest of us do when we attempt this style. It’s giving ballerina-chic instead of founding-father frump.

#1 Meghan Markle’s Slicked Back Low Bun

To nail the look, Devin Graciano, hairstylist and head of product development at Goldie Locks, says the key is to keep the look shiny and hydrated rather than dry and dull.

“You want to use products that will hold and add reflective shine,” says Graciano. “To avoid looking like a founding father when trying to recreate this look at home, opt for products that are hydrating and can provide that high-shine end result while it helps to control any unruly hairs, especially around the hairline.”

#2 Charlotte Mensah Manketti Oil Hair Pomade — $60.00

Packed with shea butter and manketti oil, this pomade adds moisture to hair, makes the hair more manageable, and helps maintain a smooth and controlled style. It’s lightweight enough to use daily without weighing your hair down.

#3 Goldie Locks Signature Serum — $56.00

Graciano recommends this serum from Goldie Locks. It’s lightweight, fast-absorbing, and hydrating to give hair an instant shine and protect against frizz. She says it pairs well with your mousse of choice.

#4 Sachajuan Hair Mousse — $37.00

This Sachajuan Mousse is ideal for flat, fine, difficult-to-style hair. It has a special technology that repairs and strengthens hair while taming frizz.

#5 14th Night Hair Elixir

Add a super luxe shine to your hair with this treatment from 14th Night. It’s rich in essential vitamins and antioxidants, making your hair instantly shiny while working to strengthen your hair over time

Affecting around 50% of women, hair loss is not talked about as often as it should be. Seeing anything from single strands to clumps left in your shower can be distressing and a knock to your confidence – neither of which we need!

But often, loss of hair is perfectly natural and healthy, so here are some answers to questions about hair loss and what amount of hair loss is normal.

Check out my video on hair loss below.

How much hair loss is normal?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=/WO8_d3sCFBw

Click here if you can’t see the video above.

How much hair is normal to lose?

It’s normal to loss between 80-100 hairs per day. In fact, for some people up to 150 strands come out every day, and this is still considered normal.

If you have long hair, remember that a 100 hairs will look like a lot more when they’re wound up and all curled together than if they were flat or straight.

And bear in mind that some detached hairs can get stuck in your style, so when it comes to washing your hair, there will be a lot more hair on the shower floor than you might expect.

If you have straight hair, you’ll lose hairs all day throughout the day. They’ll fall out quite easily too, and so you might not really notice hair loss when you’re washing your hair. For curly girls, because we have a lot of tangles in our hair the loose hairs detach but they can stay in the curl.

And so it’s only once we wash our hair that we notice what looks like a lot of hair loss. Plus if you’re only washing your hair every three or four days, you should expect to see 300-400 hairs coming out in the shower.

I won’t include a photo of how much hair I’ve lost to the shower but you can see it in the video.

When should you be worried about hair loss?

If you’ve noticed a significant increase in hair loss, this is when you should start to pay attention. However, there are lots of things that can cause hair loss and most of them are fixable, so you shouldn’t be too worried.

One of the biggest triggers is stress, so worrying about it is really frustrating because it compounds the problem.

Certain deficiencies like low iron can also cause hair loss and significant weight gain or weight loss can also affect your air growth.

I have a thyroid condition and anytime my thyroid is out of balance, I can definitely tell straight away because I notice it in my hair.

If you’re noticing a significant hair-loss difference, definitely go and see your doctor, and ask for some blood tests to see if you can pinpoint the issue.

Of course, there are conditions that can’t necessarily be treated or cured, like alopecia, which can cause significant hair loss. However, I’ve linked here to a video created by Sustainable Salons that really explains some of the hard-to-ask questions about alopecia and how we can all get involved to help.

If you’re noticing hair loss, the first thing to do is not panic and know that you’re not alone. More than half of women are affected by hair loss, so just start by monitoring the situation and if you see it getting worse, please see your doctor.

I hope this has helped either allay any fears or concerns you’ve been having about this issue or at least I’ve been about to point you in the right direction.

This is part of a series of Q&A stories I’ve published on hair and hair-related issues. You can check out my YouTube series and subscribe to my channel here or catch up with the other stories on the blog here.

And as always, if you have any questions about hair loss, please asked me in the comments.

What is a fade haircut?

A fade is a term that describes how the sides and back of your head and hair are cut with professional barber clippers by your barber or stylist.

In most cases, your barber will clip/cut/shave the hair shorter and closer to the skin at the bottom, and will gradually increase the length of the hair moving upwards.

Fades can be generally classified as low fades, mid fades, and high fades. The reference to low, mid, and high simply talks to the area the fade is being performed on with clippers. Lower down around the ears and neck, or further up to a mid point, or even further up to a higher point of the sides and back (up towards your part or crown). Pretty straightforward!

Finally, the hair on the top of your head can be cut short, medium, or left to be a longer length on top. This is usually done with professional barber haircutting scissors after the fade has been carved on the sides and back.

Types of fade haircuts

So, now we know what brings together a basic classic low fade haircut, mid fade haircut, and a high fade haircut. If you’re looking for a way to add volume and thickness to your hair, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s a collection of my favorite volumizing color combinations that will make your locks look fuller and thicker. Keep reading if you want to know more!

———————————————————————————————————————————-

If you’re looking to boost your volume while also chasing a warmer shade of blonde, then burnt blonde is the way to go. This color has some depth and dimension that makes it stand out, but it’s still not as bright or harsh as something like strawberry blonde or platinum. If you have dark skin and light eyes, burnt blonde will probably look best on you because the warmth in this tone can complement your complexion.

The best thing about this color is how thick it makes your hair look—it’s almost like having extensions without all the hassle! It also makes your tresses appear healthier and more voluminous than usual because of its richness.

Color #2: Luminous Light Brown Volume

Your hair will be a luminous light brown with a fabulous shine. The color will work best on medium to dark natural hair, but you can use this color for any texture. When you look at your hair in the mirror, you will see that it looks thicker and healthier than before. This color is great for women who have fair skin with golden undertones and hazel or green eyes.

Color #3: Electric Sandy Blonde Volume

If you’re looking for a color that will add volume to your hair, Sandy Blonde is a great choice for you. Sandy blonde hair is naturally textured, so it adds body without looking unnatural. This can be especially helpful for women with fine hair who want to create more volume without using products like mousse or gel.

Color #4: Icy Platinum Blonde Volume

Icy platinum blonde is a more subtle color than some of the others, but it’s still got enough pop to make you stand out.

The highlights should be lighter than your base color. For example, if you’re blonde and want icy platinum highlights, use a light ash blonde.

Before you get started, make sure that your hair is dry and clean so that it will absorb the color better than wet or dirty hair would.

Also make sure that your hair isn’t too damaged or dry so that it doesn’t take as much time to process (which means less money spent at the salon!).

Color #5: Toasted Bronze Brown Volume

You may be thinking, “Toasted bronze brown? Who would want to have a hair color like that?” Well, let me tell you: many people. This is a great color for anyone who wants to add some subtle fun and interest to their look without making it too bold or drastic. It’s also great if your skin tone is on the warm side and/or if you have green eyes or brown eyes, since this shade won’t wash out your complexion!

Color #6: Rosy Ash Brown Volume

Let’s talk about color 6. This is a combination of red, orange and brown shades. It’s best for people with fair skin and light eyes.

People with grey hair should try this color because it can cover up the grey hair really well while making your natural color look better than ever before! If you have fine hair I would recommend getting this shade done at a salon so that they can apply it evenly or else it may not turn out as nice as you want it to be

This color works best for people who don’t want anyone to know that they’ve dyed their hair but still want something fun and interesting

Color #7: Charcoal Silver Volume

Charcoal Silver Volume is a mix of grey and silver. The color looks great on all hair types. It will make your hair look thicker and more voluminous, no matter what your natural hair color is. This color will work with any skin tone, so it’s a good choice if you have darker skin or just want to add some glamour to your look.

Color #8: Caramelized Golden Blonde Volume

This color is a variation of golden blonde, but it has a much deeper, richer tone. The caramelized look can be achieved with a permanent hair color or by using highlights and lowlights in the same shade. This color is best suited for light skin tones and will suit most face shapes.

These hair color colour combinations will make your hair look thicker and more voluminous

When you’re trying to achieve volume, the best hair colors will enhance your natural features and lighten up your face.

`*

To get the most out of a volumizing hair color, choose one that’s as close to your natural shade as possible. That way, it’ll look like an improvement rather than a drastic change. Then start by asking yourself these questions: What are the qualities I want in my new hairstyle? What kind of personality do I want my haircut and color combination to convey? Do I have specific features that should be highlighted or minimized? What’s my budget for this project? How much time am I willing to dedicate (and what kind of maintenance is involved)?

Next, take into consideration how many times you plan on dyeing or bleaching your hair before deciding which type of product will work best for you: permanent dye lasts longer but requires multiple applications over time; semi-permanent dyes last about eight weeks; temporary dyes last only seven days but require no commitment once applied.

Conclusion

Deciding on the best volume colors is all about finding the right combination of tones that suit your hair. The top tips we’ve given here should help you do just that.

Wondering what is two block haircut? We have curated a few examples, tips, and guides to maintain a two-block haircut for you check it out!

Is it time for you to try a new haircut that’ll make you stand out from the crowd and look handsome? Well, then it’s the two-block haircut you should probably be going for.

If you’re a K-Pop fan then you might be aware of the hairstyle “two-block” haircut which is a popular haircut most Korean idols have followed.

The two-block trend has made a wave of influencers try this haircut followed by teenagers, school kids, and most youngsters around the globe.

But what is the two-block haircut? To know what’s a two-block haircut, the types of two-block haircuts, and how to get a two-block haircut, keep reading further down below.

Here we’ve brought you everything related to two block haircut that you should know before trying it on. Check them out below!

What Is Two Block Haircut?

A two-block haircut is like any other type of haircut but with different parts of your hair cut in different lengths.

In a two-block haircut, you’ll find that your hair on the sides and back is cut shorter than the hair on the top of your head.

The reason for this haircut being named the “Two Block” is because the two blocks of your hair are cut in different lengths such as the hair at the bottom of your head is cut short and the hair at the top is long which means the hair on the top is one block and the hair at the bottom is another block.

While the hair on the sides and the back are cut quite short with hair clippers, the hair on the top is trimmed with scissors or can be either kept unchanged according to one’s preferences.

One benefit of a two-block haircut is that not everyone who gets a two-block haircut will end up having their hairstyles looking the same.

This is because the two-block is a versatile haircut that can look contrasting depending on your hair length, texture, how you want your haircut to look, and how you style your hair as well.

Hence you can maintain a unique style throughout the period of having a two-block haircut.

Is Two Block Haircut The Same As A Fade Cut?

While there can be a few similarities between a two-block haircut and a fade cut, they are not the same.

Similar to the two-block haircut, a fade cut is a type of haircut where the hair on the crown of your head is kept long whereas the hair on the bottom is finely trimmed.

However, a fade cut is styled differently as in, the hair at the bottom of your head is finely trimmed to make it look like it’s fading to the hair on the top.

A fade haircut provides the illusion of the short strands of hair in the bottom subtly blending in with the hair on the top.

In contrast, a two-block haircut doesn’t have a fading or blending illusion to both blocks of your hair.

The top block of your hair has longer strands that aren’t in any way connected to the shorter strands in the bottom block. Therefore a two-block haircut is quite different from a fade cut.

Types Of Two-Block Haircuts

Like every type of haircut, there are variations of haircuts for two blocks as well. Here let’s see some popular and trendy two-block haircuts followed by youngsters nowadays:

A bowl cut is known to be one of the disliked haircuts by men around the world but this upgraded version of a two-block bowl cut is something that’s worth trying.

This haircut requires you to shave the sides of your hair and trim the back of your hair finely while leaving the hair strands at the top long.

The upper block of your hair is trimmed in different lengths which gives more texture to the overall haircut.

This haircut makes your hair fall down to your forehead hence it can only be styled that way. The two-block bowl cut is one of the most tried haircuts presently.

  • Middle Part Two Block Haircut

This is another version of a two-block haircut that is suitable for men who love to keep their locks longer.

With the middle part two-block haircut the hair at the back and sides of your head is cut short and the locks on the crown of your head are kept long.

The long strands of your hair are parted from the middle which makes your hair fall on both the sides of your head.

This will cover the trimmed sides of your head and if the hair on the top is long enough it can go over to the back of your head as well. It’s a chic way to flaunt your straight locks.

If you’d like to have a sexy haircut then this two-block haircut with a side part is what you should be going for.

The hair starting from the top of your ears is kept short and the same length is maintained to the hair on the bottom of your head at the back as well.

However, the hair on the top is slightly trimmed and is parted from one side.

This lets your longer hair strands fall to one side while the short ones are kept on the other side. This also makes your hair fall to the front like bangs and makes you look super handsome.

How To Ask Your Barber A Two-Block Haircut?

The two-block is a popular haircut in Korea but it might not be quite popular in some countries or some parts of the countries where you reside in.

Hence, you might not be able to find a barber who can give you a two-block haircut.

However, don’t let that bother you because barbers are trained professionals and they can easily pull off a two-block haircut if you show them pictures of Korean celebrities with a two-block.

Professional hairstylists and barbers are even trained to perform a hairstyle by looking at pictures as well hence most barbers won’t find it tough to replicate a haircut by taking inspiration from pictures.

Find accurate pictures of the two-block haircut you want and take them to a professional barber.

The pictures of two-block haircuts you show them must be precise and lucid. This will help the barber to understand the nature of the haircut and what must be done to provide you with a subtle two-block style.

Make sure to let your barber know that you’re not looking for a fade cut and that you just want the bottom hair to be cut short and the hair on top to be kept long with a disconnected look.

Ways To Maintain A Two-Block Haircut

For first-timers, it can be quite intricate to maintain a two-block haircut, but you will get used to it over time if you follow these valuable measures.

  • After getting your desired two-block haircut make sure you comb your hair regularly. This can avoid your hair at the top getting tangled and messy.
  • When your hair starts to grow it can be a little difficult to maintain especially the bottom block of your hair and it can also look unappealing.
  • Hence, it’s best to use a hair clipper to trim the hair at the bottom which can make your two-block haircut look good as new. If you prefer to trim your hair at the top then you can visit your barber for a simple trim.

What You Should Know Before Getting A Two-Block Haircut

If you’re considering getting a two-block haircut then there are certain things you should consider beforehand.

  • We’ve already mentioned that two-block haircuts aren’t quite popular in some conservative areas hence finding hairstylists who can give you a two-block can be limited. Even with the pictures shown, some hairstylists might be inexperienced to perform a proper two-block cut.
  • Styling a two-block haircut can be time-consuming especially if you have curly and thick textured hair. You might have to spend money on hair products like hair gel or wax to ensure your hair stays in place.
  • You will also have only a few styling options to choose from if you get a two-bowl cut. This depends on your hair length. For eg- if you have long hair on the top then you can go for a man bun, ponytail, or braids. However, with short hair, you’re only left with a few options.

Hopefully, this guide helps you get a two-block haircut conveniently and flaunt your new haircut in confidence.

What Is A Two-Block Haircut: FAQS

Why is it called a two-block haircut?

The two-block haircut is called that way because the hair is cut in “two blocks” as in the hair at the top block is trimmed and the hair at the bottom block including the sides and back is either shaved or buzzed.

Is two-block haircut and the undercut the same?

The two-block haircut and undercut have a few similarities but they aren’t exactly the same. In a two-block haircut, hair is cut in 2 different blocks as the hair on top is trimmed or left unchanged while the hair on the bottom is completely shaved. Whereas in an undercut or fade cut, the hair is shaved at the bottom and finely trimmed on the top which causes the hair in the bottom to look like it’s fading to the top.

How do you maintain a two-block haircut?

A two-block haircut is easy to maintain if you implement the following hair routine:
– Use a hair shampoo and hair conditioner when washing your hair to ensure your hair retains a smooth texture.
– Brush your hair regularly to eliminate knots and it’ll make it convenient for styling.
– You can use a hair clipper to cut the bottom block of hair including the back and sides once your hair grows.
– Visit a barber to trim the top block of hair according to your preference.

  • Gives hair rich, vibrant color
  • Restores elasticity and strength to hair

I was really excited to try out the Celeb Luxury Colorwash shampoo because I’ve heard great things about it. I was a bit worried that the color might not be as vibrant as I wanted, but I decided to give it a try anyway. The color payoff was definitely incredible and my hair looked so shiny and healthy. The only downside was that it was quite messy. But despite that minor issue, I would definitely recommend this shampoo to anyone looking for a good color depositing shampoo.

2. Keracolor Conditioner Semi Permanent Hair Color – Brightest Purple Hair Dye

You can also find this product on Ulta, Walmart.

Keracolor Conditioner is a semi-permanent hair color depositing conditioner that helps your hair appear healthy and vibrant. It comes in a variety of hues, so you can pick the right one for your style.

The formula is free of ammonia and peroxide, so it’s safe for your hair and doesn’t include any harsh chemicals. Keracolor Conditioner also helps to protect against heat damage, making it a fantastic choice for heat tool users.

It’s simple to use: apply it to wet hair, wait 3-5 minutes, then rinse. After only one usage, you’ll be able to tell the difference. While Keracolor Conditioner is a great option for those who want to keep their hair color looking fresh and vibrant, it does have some disadvantages.

First, it doesn’t always deposit color evenly, so you may see some patches where the color is lighter or darker than the rest of your hair. Finally, Keracolor Conditioner can be a bit pricey compared to other brands.

Keracolor Conditioner Hair Dye

Pros:

  • Keeps hair looking healthy and vibrant
  • Comes in a variety of colors
  • Gentle on hair and scalp
  • Protects against heat damage
  • Cruelty-free and vegan

Cons:

  • It doesn’t last very long – you’ll need to reapply it every few weeks
  • A bit pricey

9.7Expert Score

I always loved to experiment with my hair color. I would change it every few months, and I never really found a color that I loved. Then, I started using Keracolor Conditioner, and I fell in love with the purple shade. It’s bright and vibrant, and it makes me feel like a princess. The great thing about Keracolor Conditioner is that it’s semi-permanent. That means that the color will fade over time, but it won’t completely disappear. You’ll need to reapply it every few weeks, but that’s not a big hassle. Plus, the conditioner leaves your hair looking healthy and vibrant, so you can feel good about using it. I’ve been using Keracolor Conditioner for about a year now, and I haven’t had any problems with it. It’s a great product, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to keep their hair color looking fresh and vibrant.

I was a hairstylist for years before I started working with Got2b Metallic. I had always used the same brands of hair color, and I was happy with them. Then my client wanted a metallic color and I gave a try to Got2b. I was impressed by how well it delivered on its promise of a multi-dimensional look. The metallic shades were trendy and looked great on all hair textures. However, I did find that the after-treatment included with the product wasn’t enough to fully protect my hair from damage. All in all, I thought that Got2b Metallic was a great purple box hair dye and would definitely recommend it to others.

How To Choose The Best Purple Hair Dye

When it comes to purple hair dyes, there are a lot of options to choose from. If you’re not sure where to start, here are a few things to keep in mind:

Decide if you want a permanent or temporary hair color

When it comes to hair dye, there are a few things you need to take into consideration. First, you need to decide what type of dye you want to use.

There are permanent dyes, semi-permanent dyes, and temporary dyes. Each has its own set of pros and cons that you should think about before making a decision.

Permanent dyes are just that – permanent. This means that once you dye your hair with a permanent dye, it will be very difficult to change the color back to its original state.

purple hair dye

If you’re looking to make a big change to your look, then a permanent dye may be the best option for you.

However, if you’re not sure about the color you want, or if you’re looking for something that is more low-maintenance, then a semi-permanent or temporary dye may be a better option.Advertisements

Semi-permanent dyes will last for several washes, but eventually the color will start to fade. This is a great option if you want to try out a new color, but you’re not ready to commit to it long-term.

Temporary dyes are just that – temporary. They will wash out of your hair after just one shampoo, so they’re perfect for those who want to experiment with color without any commitment.

Now that you know the different types of hair dye available, it’s time to choose the right shade for you.

Choose a shade of purple that you love

There is no definitive answer to this question. However, there are a few things you can do to help you decide if purple hair will suit you. First, consider your skin tone.

If you have a cool complexion, purple hair may look great on you. However, if you have a warm complexion, it may be less flattering. Additionally, think about your natural hair color.

light purple hair dyeAdvertisements

If you have light hair, purple hair may appear brighter and more vibrant; if you have dark hair, it may be less noticeable. Ultimately, the best way to know if purple hair will suit you is to try it out!

Visit a salon and ask for a purple hair dye sample, or experiment with temporary purple hair color.

Black hair has something unique about it: deep and shiny, this shade is not for the faint-hearted. Love it or hate it, black hair is the ultimate touch to a fierce, polished look. So good and uniform it can almost appear synthetic, in a way. How dark do you dare to go? Jet black is the darkest shade of human hair extensions in our range. Before going black, know that it’s an important commitment – this heavily pigmented hair dye, in fact, is the hardest to get rid of in case you change your mind.

1. Jet Black Hair Extensions: Dark, Dark, Dark (back to index)

The fascination with deep, dark tresses is lost in time. Nowadays, black hair is sultry, mysterious, and attractive. It usually belongs to those who are looking to recreate a polished, cutting-edge look. Black hair works wonders in the colder months and is capable of transforming anybody’s look. Many celebrities have tried this shade at least once in their life. And given how compact it looks, it’s also one of the easiest box-dye jobs you could do.

2. Jet Black Hair Extensions: Availability (back to index)

You can now get Jet Black hair extensions within our range of:

  • Nano Rings Hair Extensions
  • Micro Rings Hair Extensions
  • Remy Ryal I-Tips Hair Extensions
  • Tape-In Hair Extensions
  • Remy Clip-In Human Hair Extensions
  • Seamless Clip-In Real Hair Extensions
  • Wrap Around Clip-In Ponytail Hair Piece
  • Clip-In Fringe Hair Piece
  • Quad Weft
  • Double Weft Full Head Clip-In Hair Extensions
  • Ultra Volume Clip-In Hair Extensions
  • Double Drawn Weave
  • Curly Hair Extensions

This means that you can play around with this shade on a more permanent level – such as with Nano Rings Hair Extensions and also find a match with a product that allows you to switch things up more often – such as clip-in hair extensions and even a set of clip-in bangs!

But let’s move onto who wears this shade, and how does it look in real life?

3. Jet Black Hair Extensions: Celebrity Colour Match (back to index)

Elegant, clean, rich, and classy, this popular shade makes the perfect hair colour for a real-life rich girl worthy of Gwen Stefani’s song!

Who wore jet-black hair best? Demi Lovato, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj have sworn by this hair shade before; contemporary pinup diva Dita Von Teese has been black-haired since I have memory of her; more recently, Billie Eilish is the latest celebrity that went for a dark makeover and dyed her hair black.

4. Jet Black Hair Extensions: The Perfect Hairstyles (back to index)

There are many ways that you can wear your hair extensions in, and dark shades in general do work really well with braided hairstyles and waves, for example. Let’s see three hairstyles that will bring your Jet Black hair to life like no one else!

Hollywood Waves

This glamorous hairstyle sees your hair crimped in glossy, soft waves. It’s a beautiful, timeless classic that has been trending in Hollywood and the celebrity showbiz for a long time – hence the name! With this dark, shiny and compact shade of black, Hollywood waves will stand out and give a diva effect that is going to be hard to forget.

Perfect for: square face shape, oval face shape

High Ponytail

Tall, sleek and fierce – the high ponytail sits up on the crown of your head and lays long and smooth on your shoulders. It’s the perfect hairstyle for those that are not afraid of showing off a particular makeup or accessories, such as a big pair of earrings. The clip-in ponytail hair extension is also a versatile hair accessory that you can plait in a fearless braid or wrap up in a boho-chic, messy bun. The world is your oyster!

Perfect for: diamond face shape, heart face shape, oval face shape

Dutch Braids

Usually braids are the perfect hairstyle for lighter shades, or even mixed colours with highlights and lowlights that create texture and movement in your hair. Dutch braids make a versatile, glamorous hairstyle for people with darker tresses as they are naturally standing out on your head thanks to their volume and the braiding technique itself. In order to get the perfect length and volume, you can always add a few clip-in hair extensions applied horizontally, to seamlessly blend in with the plaits.

Perfect for: oval face shape, round face shape

5. Jet Black Hair Extensions: Trends (back to index)

Black hair never dies, and this particularly dark shade is quite easy to pull off. Guaranteed, you will feel (and look) unstoppable. When it comes to trends, it’s hard to know if they’re going to work out well on our hair, especially if we recently changed our hair colour, length and/or style. Luckily, this year’s trends have been quite generous and are seemingly sticking around too.

Glass Hair

Nothing beats the glass hair trend on long, silky, black tresses. Ask Kim Kardashian! I have talked more in detail about this trend and how to achieve it on our previous blog: Friday On Trend: What Is Glass Hair And How To Get It.

Baby Braids

Think of that iconic Y2K inspired photoset Doja Cat had not too long ago! Baby braids are just one of the many 90s and early 00s hairstyles that have recently made a comeback.

Claw Clip Hairstyles

When it comes to how to put your hair up in a claw clip, hundreds of celebrities have shown the world how easy and cool it is. If you’d like to give it a try.

6. Jet Black Hair Extensions: Who Can Wear It? (back to index)

This is always the one million dollars question: technically, the answer I would love to always give is “everyone can wear whatever they want”. Which is true, to an extent.

Although with some hair colours it’s important to check your skin undertone first, deep black hair doesn’t have any special requirements of the sort. Instead, anyone can enjoy going dark with this shade!

7. Conclusion: (back to index)

Classy, clean, shiny and uniform: what’s not to love about Jet Black hair? If you’re considering dyeing your hair black at home, make sure you take all the necessary precautions or you’re going to end up staining half of your bathroom’s furniture and your own skin as well. What’s next? Create your most stunning looks with jet black human hair extensions!

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been over 20 years since the iconic film Legally Blonde hit theaters. (I object!) Legally Blonde brought us many iconic moments, including the bend and snap dance, a Harvard admissions video with multiple sequin bikinis, and Elle winning the case using her hair care knowledge (you can brush up on perms here).

Of course, there are also plenty of unforgettable fashion and beauty moments in Legally Blonde. After all, Elle’s happy place is the beauty salon. Her flirty 90s wardrobe includes halter dresses, fluffy coats, and sparkles, all in her signature pink color. The outfits are perfectly complemented by A-plus hairstyles. Whether she’s using legal jargon in her law school classes, making her case in the courtroom, or getting ready for date night, Elle Woods’ hair is always looking fabulous.

She sports everything from glamorous waves to butterfly clips and sleek ponytails in the movie. To celebrate Legally Blonde’s 20th anniversary, we’re launching our Legally Blonde x Luxy Hair set, which includes a ponytail extension, detangling brush, pink Gravity Defying Hair Ties, vegan pink feather pen, and a notebook with a sticker sheet that has the most iconic Legally Blonde quotes. This hair set has all of the essentials to achieve an Elle Woods-worthy hairstyle. To help inspire your Legally Blonde look, here’s a list of Elle’s best hairstyles from the film and step-by-step instructions on how to recreate them at home like a pro.

ponytail extension with bangs

1. High ponytail with bangs

It feels like yesterday that Elle Woods arrived at Harvard Law School, fresh-faced and eager to win back her ex-boyfriend, Warner. For Elle’s first day of classes, she proves that scholars can be stylish too. She sports a serious blue smoking jacket, knee-length skirt, black glasses, and tall brown boots, perfect for strutting her way down the halls. Her high ponytail perfectly complements her stylish look. Elle leaves out two strands of hair on either side of her face to frame her bouncy pony. If you’ve seen the film, then you know this is the look Elle wears for her iconic run-in with Warner at law school. At first, Warner couldn’t believe Elle got into law school. Her response is one of the best lines from the movie: “What, like it’s hard?”

If you need a fierce first-day of school or work ponytail, or just want to dress to impress, you can recreate this look in a few simple steps. One of the things we love most about Elle Woods’ hairstyles is how much bounce and vigor her hair has. If you recently cut your hair short or want to add some volume to thin locks, hair extensions can help you achieve a longer and thicker ponytail instantly.

Start by brushing out your hair thoroughly, removing knots and tangles. Draw hair back into a high ponytail. Remove face-framing bang pieces from the ponytail. You can use an elastic to tie them up and away from your face. Twist the ponytail and pull it up into a bun and secure the bun into place using a Gravity Defying Hair Tie.

Now, you have a choice. You can either use your Curly Ponytail Extensions for a more voluminous look or Straight Ponytail Extensions. Just run over them with a curling iron to get beautiful waves like Elle. Whichever ones you choose, brush them out with our Detangling Wet Brush first.

After your extensions are tangle-free, clip them up onto your bun and wrap the velcro base around securely. Take a strand of hair and put it around the base to conceal the band and use bobby pins to secure your style into place. Grab your Luminous Shine Hair Oil and put a few drops into your hair to make it feel soft and hydrated. As a final touch, use a straightener or curling iron to give your face-framing bangs a subtle wave. The reading glasses are optional.

2. Sleek high ponytail

Elle never says no to a challenge or a sky-high ponytail. She shows her classmates just how fabulous Elle Woods really is in this look, which she wears for lounging around on the school lawn while Warner plays football nearby. Her eye-catching pink sequin bikini, red sunglasses, fluffy jacket, and sleek pony soon draw more attention than the match itself.

The look is super fun, plus it keeps hair out of Elle’s face. If you need to disguise greasy second or third day hair, ponytail extensions will go to work for you.

Want to recreate this ponytail at home? Start by using a brush to remove tangles and knots from hair. When you pull the hair back into a ponytail, use the brush to make it smooth and lump-free, like Elle’s.

Apply a light layer of hairspray and use your hands to spread it evenly over your head to prevent pesky flyaways. Slide a comb under your hair tie at the top of the ponytail and secure your hair extensions. Take the velcro base and wrap it around the ponytail until it is firmly in place. You can hide the band by taking a strand of hair and wrapping it around. Give your head a shake to make sure it’s secure and you’re ready to go!

3. Classic middle part with 90s hair accessories

What would Legally Blonde be without the bend and snap scene? For the unfamiliar, the bend and snap is a move Elle teaches to her friend Paulette in the nail salon to help her win over the hunky mailman. According to Elle, the seductive move boasts a “98 percent success rate of getting a man’s attention.” While Paulette ends up breaking the man’s nose with her bend and snap, the two eventually end up together in the end. It really works!

While giving her bend and snap lesson to the folks at the nail salon, Elle wears a chic and sweet outfit with jeans, pink tank top, and a yellow tie top. It’s simple, but undeniably chic. Her hair is parted in the middle, pulled back on top with cute hair clips, and worn down on the sides.

Whether you use ‘90s butterfly clips, a claw clip, or glittery bobby pins to secure your hair, you can easily use this hairstyle to inspire your next look. If you want to achieve Elle’s length, use our Seamless clip in hair extensions for a comfortable and secure hold. They will stay in place, no matter how much snapping you get up to.

4. Low ponytail with side part

Elle Woods’ outfits are never disappointing, especially when she’s trying to make a good impression at school. For her orientation day, she pairs a blue and pink striped shirt with a pink newsboy cap and low ponytail. Of course, her Chihuahua Bruiser is by her side when she introduces them as “Gemini vegetarians.” While her classmates are not amused, that doesn’t stop Elle from making the most of the day.

If you want to copy her effortless low ponytail style at home, you just need to follow a few simple steps. Gather your supplies, including a clip in ponytail extension, bobby pins, a hair elastic, a hairbrush, and your favorite hairspray. It’s best to start with second day hair or hair that’s slightly oily so that the style doesn’t slip and slide. If you just washed your hair, use a texturizing spray for extra hold.

Once you have your accessories, brush out your hair and pull all of it back towards your head. Smooth out the hair at the crown and secure the ponytail into a bun at the nape of your neck. Take your extensions and secure them around the bun using the wefts. Take a half-inch strand of hair and wrap it around a ponytail and secure it with a bobby pin to hide the extensions. After your long and luxurious ponytail is in place, give your locks a dose of hairspray to ensure it stays in place all day or night long. And if you want to accessorize the pony with a pink newsboy cap, we’re not standing in your way!

5. Bouncy blowout

Last but not least is this bouncy blowout Elle wears at the beginning of the film for a date night out with Warner. While Elle thinks the blowout is for her proposal dinner, the look turns into her breakup blowout when Warner breaks the news that he wants to end their relationship. However, Warner is definitely a bonehead for dumping Elle. Everything about this hairstyle is swoon-worthy!

From the volume to the curls, Elle’s blonde locks are bringing it. You can use this look to inspire your next date night or girl’s night out. If your locks are feeling limp, don’t fret! Our Halo Hair Extensions Collection can add natural volume and length to your hair instantly.

If you want to recreate the curls, start with hairspray. This will help your waves last all day. Lightly mist your hair with the spray from root to tip. Brush through your hair a couple of times and then use a curling iron to curl 1-inch sections of your natural hair away from your face. Hold the wand parallel to the floor, no matter which hand you’re using. Always curl your hair in the same direction for a consistent look.

After your natural hair is curled, it’s time to curl your extensions before clipping them in. Use the same curling technique so that your extensions will blend well with your natural curls. Once your extensions are curled, you can clip the wefts directly into your hair. Secure a 3-clip weft at the nape of your neck and a 4-clip weft above it. The 2 and 1-clip weft can be arranged around your face for an extra dose of va-va-voom volume.

If you are looking for a no heat method, you can use our Velcro Hair Rollers for a healthy, no-heat style. The set comes with 18 rollers in large, medium, and small sizes. Simply start with hair that’s slightly damp and brush out your front pieces of hair with a comb. Clip the rest of your hair back. Take the hair pieces and apply a layer of hairspray. Then, take one of the large rollers and roll the bangs away from your face. Secure the roller in place with one of the included clips.

Continue with the rest of your hair, spraying each piece with hairspray before securing the roller. Roll hair inwards to frame your face. Use smaller rollers in the front and larger ones in the back to get that va-va-voom volume. After all of your hair is up in the rollers, leave them in for 20 to 30 minutes. When it’s time to take them out, simply remove the rollers one by one and enjoy hair that looks fresh from the salon.

Although there were definitely some fashion bumps along the way. For example, who can forget when Elle showed up at the non-costume party wearing a pink bunny costume, complete with a tail? Or when one of her professors asked her to leave class on the first day for her outfit choice? Luckily, Elle had Bruiser and her friend Paulette around for support.

While many characters frequently underestimate Elle based on her blonde locks and fun fashion choices, she smashes stereotypes and proves you can have beauty and brains. As Elle says herself at the end of the film, “You must always have faith in yourself.”

Villalobos also used wigs to create the blonde bouffants for Kerry Washington in The School for Good and Evil. “The wig took six weeks to make, and part of that is the [blonde] color, which took an additional week,” she said, noting that she chose that particular style to reflect the storyline of the character. “I wanted [Professor] Dovey to be lighter and fun because she’s from the good school, not the evil school. I also wanted to show texture in her hair.”

The film was shot in Ireland, and Villalobos remarked on how diverse the hair and makeup crew was: “When Kerry and I got to Ireland and I saw the beautiful styles and diverse nationalities. I was so happy to be part of this.” Villalobos, who has worked with Washington on multiple projects over the years, expressed how actors and producers are key to helping create a diverse team behind the scenes. “Kerry and Marlon [Wayans], those two actors are also producers and they advocate for diverse sets.”

When the film credits are all locked, an actor must tour the film with red carpet events around the world. That’s where makeup artists like Jessica Smalls come in. She works with Janelle Monae, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Lashana Lynch to create looks for the red carpet, another type of specialized skill. “I never try a new product on the red carpet,” she said. “I know how everything reacts to weather and light. I don’t use liquid lipstick. I use lip liner as a base, then lipstick. It’s key to having long-lasting makeup on the red carpet.”
