Every wardrobe requires the perfect tank, a.k.a. the Cool Racerback Short Tank. This U-neck top is crafted from a sweat-wicking material that uses Lycra to guarantee retention — basically, you’ll be able to wear this $19 tank (down from $48) a trillion times and it will always look and feel the same way it did when you first bought it.

Lululemon Define Jacket Luon

Lululemon Power Pivot Ribbed Tank Top

Chilly temps mean that workouts, however sweaty, require a lightweight layer at the beginning of class — and that’s where the Define Jacket comes in. This jacket is sleek, hip-length, sweat-wicking, and smartly designed with thumbholes to keep sleeves in place.

The Power Pivot Ribbed Tank comes in a slew of vibrant colors; we’re talking hot pink, highlighter yellow, and poolside blue. But, if you’re more into neutrals, this high-neck top caters to your clothing preferences with black, clay, and bronze green colorways. Snag it while it’s $39 instead of $58 for a chic addition to any daytime outfit, workout-related or not

Lululemon Lightweight Mesh Reversible Yoga T-Shirt

Lululemon Scuba Oversized Fleece Funnel-Neck Half-Zip

Down from $58 to $39, the Lightweight Mesh Reversible Yoga T-Shirt has a versatile design that makes it perfect for pairing with leggings for workout classes or your favorite high-rise denim for brunch. There are two ways to wear this breathable top: keep the subtle twist-front in the front or back.

Winter weather means cozy layers, and this Scuba Oversized Fleece Funnel-Neck Half-Zip understood the “feel like we’re wrapped in several blankets at all times” assignment. Currently $49 off, this oversized layer is lined with a soft cotton jersey and contains a kangaroo pocket to store your phone (or keep your hands warm when you’ve forgotten your gloves).

Lululemon Merino Wool-Blend Ribbed Long Wrap Sweater

Lululemon Court Crush Tennis Dress

Drape the Merino Wool-Blend Wrap Sweater over any outfit of your choice — whether that’s a sports-bra-and-leggings combo or loungewear look — for a dash of warmth. This cozy, relaxed-fit fabric is thermoregulating, meaning you won’t be overheating or shivering, and shimmies over your bum for extra coverage.

Sure, you can channel your inner Serena and wear the Court Crush Tennis Dress (now $69, originally $138) for a game — but it’s also the perfect, one-and-done outfit for errands, coffeeshop dates, touring a new city, and more. Plus, there are dual-entry pockets that fit a tennis ball, phone, wallet, or whatever else you need. We strongly recommend adding this to your wardrobe; it’s a comfy, put-together outfit that doesn’t require foraging for a matching top and bottom.

Lululemon Bottoms on Sale

Lululemon Power Thru High-Rise Tights

Lululemon Wunder Train High-Rise Tight with Pockets 25″

Every good wardrobe starts with good leggings, and that’s where the Power Thru High-Rise Tights come in. They’re available in 20 hues (ranging from solid colors to patterns), an abrasion-resistant fabric means it won’t pull or have loose threads, and the rise is even higher in the back to keep your underwear from being exposed. And at 50 percent off, you can’t go wrong.

From yoga to volleyball, from swimming to basketball, from soccer players to rugby stars, from David Beckham and Serena Williams to Marcel Nguyen and Billie Jean King – the great thing about being an athlete is that you don’t have to worry about having a hairstyle that is office appropriate. This leads to many athletes rocking out amazing trendy and effortless hairstyles and setting the hairdo standard to the rest of the world.

Moreover, the sporty hairstyles listed below are appropriate for different hair length and can become a perfect hairstyle not only for a workout session but also for running errands or travelling. And since those simple hairstyle ideas have gone far beyond the gym limits, women and men often combine these sporty hairstyles with their casual and even fancy outfits.

Check out these cool women’s and men’s athletic hairstyles we’ve gathered for you.

Box Braid Ponytail

Box Braid Ponytail
@bellskreation

What makes a braided pony hairstyle one of the most popular and best sporty hairstyles? The answer is that short hair and long hair can be equally tamed in a braided hairstyle tied into a simple pony.

The braids are stylish and low-maintenance, especially with cornrows, they keep your hair away from face not letting it distract your attention at the most significant moments. Braids require zero styling, so nothing can go wrong with them.

The Bun

The Bun
@temposcrunchie

You can stick to the sport classics and tie a typical tight bun updo. Or two buns. However, depending on your sport’s specifics, you can create such a cute messy bun hairdo with two strands hanging in the front. This chill bun vibe is also bold and edgy, and a colorful elastic can be matched with your yoga outfit.

Cornrow Bun

Cornrow Bun
@justbraidsinfo

And if you combine two most comfortable sports hairstyles – the bun and the braided pony – you’ll get the top convenience athletic hairstyle that is neat, chic, and stylish at the same time. This style also allows for experiments with the cornrows and braid type, you can try adding twists and fun patterns.

Side Part Box Braids

Side Part Box Braids
@emestylistto

Although black girls pull out such braids and twists more often, similar braid ideas will work magic for women with straight thick or thin hair. Beads are optional, so is the side parting that makes the whole hairstyle fall to one side.

Curly Pony

Curly Pony
@madeinchyna_hair

It’s hardly possible to list all the ponytails that are ideal gym hairstyles. Still, a basic low ponytail hairstyle is a way too boring style. You can create that chic glossy finish on top, wrap the base of the pony with a thin strand of hair, or just make playful curly locks at the length.

Ponytail with Twists

Ponytail with Twists
@hannamariaw

This bright pink color definitely makes this ponytail athletic hairstyle rather cute and unique. But there is something else: the front part is divided with a central parting into two sections, which you need to twist and pull back towards the base of the ponytail. Space buns, braids, and other gym hairstyles can also be upgraded with twists.

French Braid

French Braid
@yukalinana

One, two, or even three French braids hanging down the shoulders is always a win-win workout hairdo for long hair. Women with medium-length and short hair lengths can also wear this style but they won’t feel all the pros that long-haired sports ladies will. With French braids or Dutch braids, looking sporty but elegant and chic is not a fantasy anymore.

Fringe Braid

Fringe Braid
@petrafouhyhair

A fringe braid is meant to keep those bangs away from face when it’s necessary. If you’re not up to an updo but gonna do sports, create a simple waterfall fringe braid, hide its end under your messy short hair, and secure the braid with a pin.

Half Updo

Half Updo
@may11hairoil

A half updo is always about the search of balance and harmony in the hairstyle. This half top-knot nicely complements bob hair. Sporty style is soaked with femininity, grace, and charm. This workout half updo opens up your neck and face highlighting your natural beauty.

Single Braid

 Single Braid
@long_hair_monk

Wear this basic sports braid in the gym and outside. Braids and buns are more secure than a ponytail, and there are countless ideas of how to twist them up. Girls with short hair and long hair will equally handle this workout hairstyle.

Messy Bangs Haircut

Messy Bangs Haircut@hollygirldoeshair

Messy bangs and edgy layered locks are often associated with sporty hairstyles. But probably it’s only short hair that is appropriate for such workout hair experiments. It looks awesome on all lengths indeed, but if comfort is your concern, we say you should only consider such braided hair options for a gym only if your strands are fairly short.

#1 Lightly Tousled Tresses

Michelle Pfeiffer’s shoulder-hitting, tousled tresses are the epitome of effortless style, and the perfect middle ground between straight and wavy. Try using a sea salt spray for added texture.

#2 Polished Waves

Kyra Sedgwick’s polished look gives a hint of Hollywood glamour without being over the top. Her deep side part frames her face and adds to the drama.

#3 Side-Swept Waves

Diane Lane’s side-swept style is super flattering for any face shape. Tuck one side behind your ear for an even more sophisticated look (and to show off some cute tassel earrings!).

#4 Curly Bob

A curly bob never goes out of fashion. Viola Davis’ look is playful, feminine, and easy to style whether you’re dressing it up or down.

#5 Sleek Lob

Maya Rudolph’s lob is made even more sleek and stylish with an of-the-moment middle part. If you’re wondering how to get shiny hair like Maya’s, try a product with ingredients like argan oil and grapefruit extract, celebrity hairstylist Marissa Marino recommends.

#6 Curtain Bangs

If you’re contemplating bangs but not sure you’re ready to make the commitment, consider Elizabeth Banks’ soft, layered look. Longer curtain bangs like these will add dimension and texture to your medium-length look without requiring too much maintenance.

#7 The Wet Look

Juliette Binoche’s wet-hair look is chic and sexy. You can achieve this style by applying a high-shine pomade to damp hair and blow-drying it straight back.

#8 Layered Lob

Face-framing layers add interest and texture to Diane Keaton’s simple hairstyle. It looks great in gray, if you ask us! (Check out our collection of the best gray hair color ideas for even more inspiration.)

#9 Curly Updo

Nicole Kidman’s voluminous updo is softened by curly tendrils that frame her face. For a casual take on this look, use an oversized clip (or as Ree would say, chip clip!) to secure your hair at the top of your head.

#10 Curled Under Lob with Bangs

A shoulder-length lob with gently curled-under ends would look good on anyone, and can be easily achieved with a hot air brush. Heavy bangs add a feminine finishing touch.

#11 Softly Layered Bob

Meg Ryan’s layers add dimension to her shoulder-length style. Marine Cosseron, a hairstylist and colorist at Jean-Claude Biguine Salon in New York City, says the low-maintenance look is especially great for natural waves. To keep it in tip-top shape, get your cut refreshed every two to three months.

#12 Middle-Part Bob

Nadia Vassell, owner of Nadia Vassell Salon in New York City, loves a middle part for a twist on the classic bob. If you go for a super-sleek style like Angela Bassett’s, make sure to use a heat protectant before flat-ironing.

#13 Rock and Roll Fringe

Cate Blanchett wore this blunt bob for Ocean’s 8, but you don’t have to be on a movie set to rock the dramatic look! You should aim to get bangs cut every two to three weeks, says Cosseron, but you can also grow them out and wear them as framing or curtain bangs (which require less maintenance). To style bangs like these, run your fingers through your hair for a not-too-done look, or touch them up with a saltwater spray.

#14 Soft Waves

A softly angled collarbone-length bob draws attention to Julia Roberts’s face. “You’re lucky if you have natural waves, but you can also create them with a curling iron or thin flatiron,” says Cosseron. Bonus points if you wear a Pretty Woman-inspired polka dot ensemble. 😂

#15 Barrel Waves

How gorgeous are Octavia Spencer’s bouncy waves!? To achieve the glamorous look, hairstylist David Stanwell told Hype Hair he prepped Octavia’s hair with Dove Style+Care Curls Defining Mousse, blew dry it with a round brush, then curled small sections with a 1¼” curling iron.

#16 Multilayered Bob

Even though Charlize Theron’s bob hits at her chin, it has the same dimension as a longer cut, thanks to lots of layers. “Our hair changes as we age,” Vassell says. “Adding soft layers will it give some fullness and movement.”

#17 Natural Curls

Angela Bassett’s haircut falls just at her shoulders, framing her face, and a side part gives the voluminous style some shape. The key to Angela’s healthy curls? “Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!” says Cosseron.

#18 Face-Framing Layers

When in doubt, add layers! They’re universally flattering and add movement and life to your style. “Just check out Martha Stewart at 79—stunning!” says Vassell.

#19 Lob

Lob = long bob! Although you can style it however you want, Vassell loves an effortless beach wave like Jennifer Lopez’s slightly tousled ‘do. “It’s perfect for older women because it’s super easy to style and maintain,” she says.

#20 Bob with Bangs

French actress Sophie Marceau makes this medium-layered bob look easy breezy! To replicate Sophie’s look, you can either let your hair air-dry or style it with a blow dryer and round brush, says Cosseron. Keep in mind you’ll need to trim bangs every two to three weeks.

#21 Sleek Middle Part

A center part is a great way to disguise thinning hair around the hairline, says beauty expert Cheryl Kramer. Face-framing layers also create flattering movement around Jennifer Aniston’s face.

#22 Half-Up, Half-Down

“This hairstyle will give you a natural lifted look,” says Vassell. Robin Givens’s pretty tendrils also draw attention to her amazing cheekbones.

#23 Curls with Bangs

If you have curly hair like Viola Davis, you absolutely can get bangs, says Kramer. Just opt for wispier styles instead of a blunt bang. An added bonus for the 50+ crowd: “Bangs hide forehead lines,” she says.

#24 Chic Side Part

Lucy Liu’s healthy-looking blunt cut is especially great for naturally straight hair. Just make sure to get regular trims to prevent split ends!

#25 Beachy Waves

“Our hair’s density and texture change as we age, so layers throughout can help create more depth,” says Kramer. Laura Dern’s hairstylist Creighton Bowman swears by Bumble and Bumble’s Thickening Dryspun Texture Spray for her beachy waves, he tells E!

#26 High Pony with Bangs

Halle Berry pairs a more relaxed pony with wispy curtain bangs. You can use a bobby pin to secure a strand of hair around your ponytail like Halle.

#27 Shaggy Layers

Padma Lakshmi is known for her long waves, but she debuted a bold layered cut with sideswept bangs at the Emmys a few years ago. Hairstylist Jeanie Syfu left the ends straight to show off the piecey texture of her haircut, reports People.

#28 Natural Waves

Blythe Danner shows that you can rock a slightly longer medium-length style at any age. Light layers and a subtle bang highlight the natural movement of her wavy hair.

#29 Barely-There Bangs

If you want to get bangs without the commitment, take a page from Real Housewives of New York City star Luann de Lesseps. The slight side bang echoes the layers in her trademark shoulder-length cut.

#30 High Ponytail

“Try a high pony—it pulls back loose skin like a quickie facelift!” says Kramer. Jennifer Lopez’s slicked-back style is great for second-day hair, too.

What does a typical day at Luxy look like for you?

My day starts off with a hot cup of chai and a quick scroll through my Pinterest feed (I’m obsessed with mood boarding). No two days are the same and my tasks are constantly evolving.

When I’m not experimenting with fonts and color palettes, a typical day involves designing anything from emails, promos, blog posts to researching and creating mood boards for the next launch. My favorite days are the ones where I am on set and you can find me art directing shoots or set styling.

Describe your WFH outfit

Two words: sweats and slippers – but elevated.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in this field?

Growing up in a South Asian household we are encouraged to pursue careers in law, medicine or teaching. I always found myself gravitating towards the arts and design and knew that this is where I am meant to be.

It was a tough internal battle but I knew with hard work I could prove the stigma around pursuing art and design as a career to be false. I eventually found myself learning the ins and outs of design and began to flow with my passion. Now I am here, doing what I love everyday.

Who is your hair inspo and why?

A hybrid between Kim Kardashian and 2000’s Avril Lavigne. Kim for versatility in styling and Avril for wearing her personality in her hair – through color.

Favourite thing about working at Luxy?

An incredible team that’s starting to feel like family, oh and the work perks.

What are your favorite emojis to use?

🤪🤍✨

What are 3 things you are grateful for and why?

I am grateful for a supportive partner – someone who subscribes to all my crazy ideas unconditionally. My open mind and ability to learn and adapt as life happens. And my family, the people who shape my life and inspire me.

What is your favorite snack?

Nongshim Ramyun Kimchi Noodles

Describe your self-care routine

At the end of the night, I take a shower, do my skin care, shut off my light, turn on my salt lamp and indulge in something “offline”, whether it’s painting or reading (sometimes a movie binge). Oh, and a little snack on the side.

Which social platform is your favorite and who do you enjoy following the most and why?

I enjoy using Tiktok. I don’t have a favorite user but I do love watching creatives share their experiences and projects.

What was the last book that you read that made a huge impact on your life?

A Place For Us – Fatima Farheen Mirza. It is one of the only books that I feel I can truly identify with on a personal level. It felt like watching myself through a telescope.

What is your daily mantra or words to live by?

An Urdu poem that my parents repeated to be my entire childhood.

“Khudi ko kar buland itna ke har taqdeer se pehle. Khuda bande se khud pooche bata teri raza kya hai.”

It means: ““Elevate yourself so high that even God, before issuing every decree of destiny, should ask you: Tell me, what is it that you desire?”

What’s your horoscope sign and how would you describe yourself in 3 words?

I’m a Leo. Someone who is bold, courageous and leads life with passion.

If you haven’t noticed previously, please take note that Hispanic people are some of the most beautiful human beings on the planet, and that includes both men and women. However, it’s important to keep in mind that people of Hispanic descent usually have unique mostly wavy or curly hair, as it tends to be thick, full, and sometimes difficult to manage. This can make it difficult at times to find a Mexican haircut that works. That being said, there are plenty of great Hispanic haircuts available for both Hispanic men and women. Here are 30 great haircuts for Hispanic hair.

The Best Hispanic Hairstyles for Men and Women

Stylish Mexican haircuts or Latino hairstyles are meant for thick and textured Hispanic hair. Hispanic pop musician style has soaked every inch of present-day Latino fashion. Thus, Mexican haircuts for men offer a Hispanic faux hawk, burst fade mohawk, Edgar haircut, textured brush back taper, faded comb overs, and all sorts of messy hair with the square and angular hairline. Female Hispanic hairstyles are also diverse: from short and layered pixie styles to thick Hispanic braids and loose locks. All the hottest Mexican hairstyles are gathered below:

Short and Layered

Short and Layered @beautifiedbyary For Hispanic women, going short with your hair should not be a problem just as long as you keep things layered. Having thick, dark hair can sometimes make it difficult, but with some styling, you can make it work and look fantastic.

French Bob Dark Latino Hair

French Bob Dark Latino Hair @erika.king_ This hairstyle has its roots in Europe, but there’s no reason why a lot of Hispanic women can’t steal this classic European style statement. For Hispanic women who have straight hair, cutting things short can be a great look, as it’s almost made for women with dark hair.

Blunt Bangs Mexican Hair

Blunt Bangs Mexican Hair @florence.hair You should never be afraid to show off your bangs. In fact, if you’re a Hispanic woman with long, flowing hair, highlighting your choppy asymmetric fringe in an obvious way is a great tactic for keeping all the attention on your face.

Side Swept Bangs

Side Swept Bangs @nostalgiafreak ‘00s bangs are officially back! If you like your bangs but don’t want to go through the fuss of trying to keep them in one place, just let them hang in front and swipe them to the side. Yes, your long, thick hair may fall in front of your eyes from time to time, so you’ll have to keep pushing them aside, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Your bangs hanging down in front of your eyes can add just a little bit of mystery to your celebrity-inspired hairstyle, which can sometimes be good.

Long and Wavy Hair for Mexican Men

Long and Wavy Hair for Mexican Men @gabrielolivb For many Hispanic men, letting your hair grow out can be the way to go, and if it ends up getting out of control, so be it. This look is rugged and edgy, with blonde white colored hair highlights, and messy hair, so if you can get your hair to grow long and wavy, go for this ultra-modern hot high volume hairstyle for Mexican guys. It’ll take some upkeep, but once you get it right it looks great.

Long Locks Haircuts for Men

Long Locks Haircuts for Men @mojix.zt Unless you’re a serious romantic, you probably shouldn’t attempt this hairstyle. With long, flowing locks that practically cascade to your shoulder, this haircut is for confident men who know what they want and know how to get it. It’s not easy to pull off, but it’s a great look if you’ve got the personality to match.

Mexican Version of a Buzz Cut

Mexican Version of a Buzz Cut @jabaritheprince Trust us, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with cutting it all off and going with a buzz cut, especially if you know that it’s probably going to grow back. Lack of hair can be a fashion statement like anything else, and obviously, it’s going to be easy to manage on a daily basis, so Hispanic men should not overlook the buzz cut as an option, at least every now and then.

Man Bun

Man Bun @jeromathew You can call it a ponytail, a man bun, or anything else, but if you have long, thick hair, it should be considered an option for young men and senior guys. Yes, it’ll attract some haters, but there will also be plenty of people who love the look. So, if you’re okay with mixed reviews, feel free to turn that long hair into a man bun.

Medium Layered Mexican Hair

Medium Layered Mexican Hair @frankanthony.salon For many Hispanic women, shoulder length hair with some layering can be the perfect look. It’s a classic hairstyle in Latino hair styling culture that doesn’t take much work and should be acceptable in just about any setting. When in doubt, just go with something traditional like this medium-length hair Mexican haircut, that you know will work.

Donut Bun

Donut Bun @natchbyallyssa This traditional Mexican hairstyle is definitely going to attract some interest. It goes without saying that you’ll need massive amounts of hair to put together this donut bun, but if you’re unsure of what to do with all that unruly Mexican hair, why not try to make sure it all stays in one place. If nothing else, it’ll keep your hair out of your face, so at least some people will focus on that, although more realistically, everyone will be looking at the glamorous donut bun at the top of your head.

Thick Hispanic Braids

Thick Hispanic Braids @laid2impress One possible solution for managing thick, dark hair is putting it in long Latino braids or Latino dreadlocks. There are a wide variety of things to do once you put your hair in braids, but leaving a few loose strands in front to help frame your face is always a viable option if you don’t want all the attention to go to your braids.

Hispanic Inspired Tight Braids

Hispanic Inspired Tight Braids @africansbraid Braided styles are becoming one of the most common Hispanic haircuts since it is definitely more of a long-term solution than something you want to just try out for a weekend. That being said, tight braids that almost resemble dreadlocks can be a great idea for a Hispanic woman with long hair who doesn’t want to bother styling it on a daily basis. With the right attitude, this can be a wonderful and long-lasting Mexican haircut.

Colored Streaks

Colored Streaks @projectsbyashley You should never shy away from experimenting with different colors, especially nowadays. If you’re too apprehensive to alter the color of your classic Hispanic wavy haircut completely, adding a few streaks can be a great way to experiment or ease into the change. Colors like blue, purple, and red, especially in darker shades, are perfect for complementing all the Mexican haircuts.

Sleek and Straight

Sleek and Straight @cesarggalicia Even if you don’t have a natural smooth hair texture, there are ways that you can create a look that’s sleek and shiny. Once you get everything straightened out, literally, just let your hair fall the way it may and check out how glamorous you can look with this celebrity-inspired Hispanic haircut.

Part into Ponytail

Part into Ponytail @mateusgibertone This and many other awesome Latino haircuts worth checking out look elegant but are so simple to pull off. Just part a section to craft a braid on the side and sweep it along with all your wavy hair to the coolest Mexican haircut. It’s a long wavy hairstyle hair look that’s easy to cultivate and will have you looking like a million bucks.

Sophisticated Curls

Sophisticated Curls @devacurlpro It can be tough to walk around proud with curly hair; the trick is to just embrace it. Just make sure your curls are neatly trimmed and styled properly so you can show them off with confidence.

Pompadour Mid Skin Shadow Fade

Pompadour Mid Skin Shadow Fade @iskothebarber Technically, this haircut is called the pompadour, but we like to think of it as the modern day Zack Morris. Just take that thick, curly hair and drown it with hair gel until it sticks up in front, add a skin fade or a taper fade. Of course, it also helps to have a confident personality to go along with it, or else you’re never going to pull it off.

Just Curls Mexican Caesar

Just Curls Mexican Caesar @igg_isidoro Sometimes, there’s just nothing that can be done about curly hair. However, there is a way to make those curls work in your favor by making sure they’re well organized and styled appropriately. In fact, if you want to steer into the skid completely, you can try to make your hair as curly as possible. Just fully commit to your curls and you should be satisfied with the results.

Angled Bob

Angled Bob @headrushdesigns This is definitely more like it: a classic bob but with a little twist because the hair is cut at an angle. The angled bob takes a more conservative haircut and adds a bit of flair to it that really makes it stand out in a crowd.

Side Shaved

Side Shaved @marynascimento_hair Not everyone is going to be able to pull off the side shaved look, but if you’re feeling adventurous, this undercut Hispanic phenomenon may be worth a try. If you have hair that’s otherwise long and sleek it’ll be difficult to shave off an entire side, but doing so just might be crazy enough to work.

Short But Wavy

Short But Wavy @nikcabral Cutting your hair short doesn’t mean you can’t have some wave and volume in it. As long as you don’t cut it too short, most Hispanic women have enough hair to add some waves or some volume, even if their hair doesn’t quite make it to their shoulders.

Short Curls

Short Curls @jocelynimanii Again, cutting your hair short doesn’t mean you can’t have some curls and some depth to it. In fact, flipping everything up above the forehead with some curls is among common Hispanic haircuts today and a great way to convey both class and wisdom but still look your best.

Puffy Curls Trendy Hairstyles

Puffy Curls Trendy Hairstyles @jocelynimanii For Hispanic women who have nothing but curls, just let them flow. Sometimes, less is more, so just let your curls loose along with a curly hair fringe and let them blow around in the wind.

Blonde Highlights

Blonde Highlights @hairbyjuju Adding colorful streaks is one thing, but adding blonde highlights is a whole different animal for Hispanic women with dark hair. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth a try. With the right shade of blonde, the contrast between that blonde and your natural hair color can be utterly brilliant. If you give it a try, it could turn out to be far better than you expected.

Curly Bob

Curly Bob @jocelynimanii This is yet another twist on the traditional bob look; this one is a bob with curls. Bobs are typically straight, but if you’re born with curly hair, there’s no sense in fighting it. Instead, embrace the curls with your bob cut and give yourself a haircut that feels as good as it looks.

Let It Flow

Let It Flow @hairbydainerys When your hair gets to a certain length, sometimes the best thing you can do is just let it flow. If you take good care of it, hopefully, you can get your hair to have a nice shine to it, which will make it all the better when it’s hanging off your shoulder and down your back without a care in the world.

Curly Lob

Curly Lob @fireelooks Seriously, how adorable is this haircut? It doesn’t take itself too seriously and it doesn’t care if things get a little out of place. It’s just fun, fashionable, and lets the hair relax and do its own thing. If only everything were that easy, right?

Fringe Bangs

30 Top Haircuts for Hispanic Hair This is a classic look for women of any culture, Hispanic women especially. This is a great look because it brings bangs into the equation and also allows for a little bit of a frame around the face. Yes, there’s a little bit of work involved in this kind of haircut, but don’t try to tell us this hairstyle wouldn’t look beautiful on anybody.

Nothing But Bangs

Nothing But Bangs @brianaguilarhair Sometimes, not always, but sometimes you just want to show the world that you have bangs, and there’s nothing wrong with that. If you have long, sleek hair, sometimes going with long bangs and even longer hair cascading down the sides can be a brilliant, fashion-forward look.

Crimped Hair

Crimped Hair @theudrosebeautybar We know you can’t do it every day, but let’s be honest, crimped hair looks utterly amazing on almost anyone. We can’t quite put our finger on why, but there’s something about crimped hair that just drives us crazy in a good way. For Hispanic women with dark, thick hair, crimping your hair is definitely something to do on special occasions; it’s a special look.

It happens to the best of us — life gets busy and you skip a wash day (or two). There are certainly more stressful situations to find yourself in, but nevertheless, rocking greasy hair isn’t exactly confidence-boosting when you’re hyper-aware of how badly your hair needs a cleanse.

With that said, your scalp’s natural oils can make some slicked-back styles easier to achieve than if you have freshly washed hair. (We see you, Olaplex bun.)

If you do want to disguise your greasy hair, either by leaning into the oilier look or concealing it, there are many ways to do so, whether you have short or long hair, and whether you want to wear it up or down. From trendy zig-zag headbands to classic slicked back updos, view eight of our favorite greasy hair looks for the next time you forget to wash your hair.

This article originally appeared on instyle.com

#1 Early 2000s Front Pieces

“This is a great look for greasy hair, where the grease works in your favor.” says celebrity hairstylist and T3 ambassador, Laura Polko. “Typically, this look requires pomade to keep hair in place, but natural oils work just as well as product!”

To get the look, she says to take fringe or shorter front pieces and use the T3 Edge heated brush to get pieces to hang the right way.

#2 The Wet Look

Really lean into your hair’s shine by doubling down and making it megawatt. The wet look is all the rage right now, and it’s perfect for grunge girl fall.

To recreate the style, celebrity hairstylist and Matrix Brand Ambassador, Castillo, previously told InStyle to coat hair with lightweight oil and lightweight gel. Easy!

#3 Bubble Ponytail

Fun, statement-making, and effective at distracting from dirty hair, bubble ponytails are a playful way to disguise grease.

To get the look, slick your hair back and secure it at the nape of your neck with an elastic. Then, space out the next elastic to your desired distance and, once secure, gently tug at it to make the bubble voluminous.

#4 Zig-Zag Headbands

“This is the perfect look for greasy hair because typically the roots showcase the most oil and a headband can hide it well,” says Polko.

To recreate the look, she says to brush the oils through the hair so it more evenly distributed from roots to the ends. “I like tuck the ends of the hair under with the T3 AireBrush Duo round barrel attachment for a very Y2K look,” she adds.

#5 Braided Ponytail

Whether you part your hair in the middle or to the side, a low, braided pony is the perfect way to disguise greasy hair as the top will look slick and any lingering grease from mid-shaft down to the tips will be blend in together.

HoYeon Jung’s hairstylist, Jenny Cho, created this braid inspired by traditional Korean plaits using ghd hot tools and brushes.

#6 Space Buns

If you’re going for a youthful hairstyle that screams Y2K, opt for a pair of space buns. Extra points if you style your edges in swirly waves à la Yara Shahidi.

#7 Snap Clips

“When your hair is super greasy, hit it with a blow dryer, like the T3 AireLuxe Dryer with Volume Boost switch on, and blast your hair upside down — this helps get volume back in the hair, which is lost with grease,” says Polko.

To get the look, she says to part the front sections of your hair, showcasing the shine from oils, and then use two snap clips to keep the sections in place.

#8 Slicked-Back Buns

While slicked-back buns aren’t a new trend, its newer name — the Olaplex bun — took TikTok and the rest of the world by storm earlier this year when users noted that this hairstyle made for the perfect opportunity to simultaneously use a leave-in treatment.

Slicking your hair back to the Gods helps disguise excess shine and, in place, makes it seem chic and intentional.

Blondes might have more fun, but they often have to work harder to keep their hair healthy. One secret all lighter hair tones should know about is purple shampoo. Whether you are a bottle blonde or have naturally lighter locks, incorporating this toning shampoo into your hair care routine can help you maintain and tone your current hue in between salon visits.

While purple shampoos will not make your hair lighter (or turn your hair purple), they will neutralize brassiness and make dull locks shine brighter than ever.

brassy blonde hair

The reason that taking your hair to a brighter, blonder hair tone typically requires more upkeep is because it lifts your hair’s base color. In comparison to dyeing your hair a darker shade, bleach requires more processing and chemicals. This leaves the hair more vulnerable to breakage by opening the cuticle and allowing UV rays, pollution, and other pollutants to enter. It also prevents hair from retaining moisture, which in turn makes color appear dull and brassy. The good news is purple shampoos will help you say bye bye to brassiness.

Whether you’ve gone platinum blonde, silver, or just want to add vibrancy to your natural blonde locks, you should consider keeping a purple shampoo on hand. Here’s everything you need to know about these violet-based alternatives, along with 10 of the best purple shampoos on the market.

What does purple shampoo do?

purple shampoo for blondes

Purple shampoo is a must-have for blonde manes. But what does purple shampoo do? Just as the name suggests, purple shampoo is a purple pigmented formula that helps keep yellow and brassy undertones at bay. Designed as an at-home toning system, the formula helps maintain blonde hair’s brightness in between salon appointments and neutralize unwanted pigments.

Why purple? It’s all about the color wheel theory. Shades on the opposite of the wheel cancel each other out, which means purple pigments help counteract yellow tones in blonde hair. The results of purple shampoo before and after show a clear reduction of warm and yellow colors. The same color correction principle is used in makeup, such as using green concealer to tone down skin redness.

Is purple shampoo only for blondes?

Blonde hair, especially dyed blonde hair, has the most to gain from purple shampoo. However, brunettes can benefit from purple shampoo too! If you are a brunette with ombre, highlights or balayage, then you can also benefit from using this violet-based product.

Purple shampoos function as an effective toner for brown hair since they often deal with the same brassiness and color changes. The dyed sections of hair can become dry and damaged, revealing underlying warmer and yellow pigments.

How to choose the right purple shampoo for your hair

best purple shampoo

With tons of purple shampoos on the market right now, it can be difficult to choose just one. A good general rule of thumb to follow is the lighter the shade of purple, the more subtle the results. Quality purple shampoos will have a thicker consistency, deeper purple color, and will not appear as translucent.

How to use purple shampoo

Typically purple shampoo can be used just like your normal shampoo. For your first wash, use a deep cleansing shampoo to lift any yellowish deposit from product use, the environment, or heat styling tools. Then, use your purple shampoo of choice. Lather the shampoo throughout wet hair and let it sit for up to 15 minutes, depending on your brassiness level. Since purple shampoo has toning properties, it will continue to tone your hair as long as you leave it in. Always read product directions and rinse hair thoroughly after washing.

blonde hair extensions

How long to leave purple shampoo on your hair

Experts advise people to be careful when using violet-based shampoos. If you have icy-blonde hair and leave a purple shampoo on too long, your hair will end up having a blue-purple tinge to it. Always be sure to read instructions carefully and time your session. If your hair does start to take on a lavender or blue tint, cut back on washes and supplement with your normal shampoo.

How often to use purple shampoo

Colorists note that it’s easy to overuse purple shampoo since it can have a drying effect. It’s best to use a color safe shampoo and conditioner for your normal routine, but then add in purple shampoo in between washes.

If you typically wash your hair twice a week, it’s best to use purple shampoo once a week. Keep in mind that purple shampoo should not replace your regular shampoo and should only be used once or twice a week. Overusing it can lead to build up and dullness, or even make you immune to the product. Luxy’s Balancing Purple Shampoo can be used on natural hair and blonde extensions as well to keep the color looking vibrant.

    9. SheaMoisture Purple Rice Water Strength + Color Care Shampoo

The star ingredient in this shampoo is rice water, which leaves hair soft, clean, and visibly brighter. Not to mention that this purple shampoo smells amazing. If you have damaged hair, the ultra-hydrating formula with organic shea butter, jojoba oil, and argan oil will help restore moisture.

    10.  Pravana The Perfect Blonde Shampoo

Peekaboo coloring is not a brand new trend in the beauty industry. However, it adopts new approaches and keeps transforming rather than fade away year by year. So, what is so unique about the peekaboo style that holds boo hair ideas still afloat? The fact you can combine the craziest hair color experiments with a casual healthy hair look. Perfect, isn’t it? Thus, you effortlessly hide the dye pop underneath the top layer throughout your office workday, and in the evening, sweep the hair to one side revealing the juicy outstanding nature of your hairstyle. Even a few strands of a vivid shade will add some mystery and drama to your image. So, no matter if you choose to add some peek a boo highlights to the bang, throughout the cut, or just underside – you’re guaranteed to cut a dash. Ready?

What Is Peekaboo Hair Color?

What Is Peekaboo Hair Color @veeshii Classic peekaboo highlights are applied underneath the top layer of your hair. They create just a hint of color pop when running your fingers through your hair – this is exactly what a “peekaboo” moment is. When you put hair into a ponytail, a half-up, or just pin it at the sides, the highlights become visible. The curlier the hair texture is, the more visible your highlights will be. However, if you deviate from a classic variation of a boo and try a half-hidden peekaboo highlights option, the color will be much more prominent and noticeable.

How To Do Peekaboo Highlights At Home Like A Pro

How To Do Peekaboo Highlights At Home Like A Pro @kirina.styles Rocking a peekaboo style without any professional help is tricky but still possible. So here is what you need to do to get a peek a boo hair color at home as if you were at a hairdresser’s: First, pick a color for your peekaboo section: to stay safe, kick-start with only one color. If you’re brave enough, try making highlights with two closely matched colors. How do you part your hair for peek-a-boo highlights? Run the tail end of your comb from ear to ear, sectioning off the top part by clipping it up. You can also apply a small amount of petroleum jelly to protect the hair you don’t want to be dyed. Take small sections of the middle layer and apply the first shade of hair dye without dripping any onto the bottom section (can wrap it in tin foil or a plastic cap). Do the same with the bottom section (if you use several colors). If it’s your first hair lightening, you’ll need to bleach your hair first. Wait about an hour for the dye to process and rinse the top section first with cold water until it runs clear. Then, repeat it on the bottom section. Remember to use a hair conditioner after bleaching and coloring to protect your hair. Also, to do peekaboo highlights at home like a pro, you can ask a friend to help you.

Before You Start

Before You Start peekaboo @lazuli_salon_ Before you start, make sure you’ve got the following:

  • Color and bleach
  • Petroleum jelly to avoid dips and stains
  • Disposable gloves to protect your hands
  • A rattail comb to separate, detangle your hair, and work the dye through it
  • Sectioning clips to segment your hair
  • A tint brush for perfect application
  • An old towel to cover your clothing
  • Aluminum foil

How To: Step-by-Step Tutorial

How To: Step-by-Step Tutorial @olga.lebedinskaya

Step 1: Preparation

Choose a shade and make sure that the chosen peekaboo hair color will work well against your skin tone. Decide on your boo highlights placement. Are they going to be hidden highlights? Will you combine several colors? Pin the streaks you want to turn bright so that they look consistent.

Step 2: Bleaching (or not?)

Consider your natural hair color to understand if you need to bleach your hair first. Both colorful and blonde peekaboo highlights on dark hair require pre-lightening. When bleaching, apply some petroleum jelly or vaseline on the hair that won’t be colored to protect it. Next, follow the directions on the bleach pack, fold each section with foil, and give it the specified time. Remove the foil, wash out the excess bleach, and blow-dry your hair.

Step 3: Applying the color

Read the instructions on the color pack and spread the color to the bleached strands using the same technique as when bleaching. Wait a couple of minutes so that the color develops and then wrap the strands with foil. Wait about 15 minutes and check the color. When you’re satisfied with the color, wash the hair, blow-dry it, and style.

Frequently Asked Questions

When was peekaboo hair invented?

In 1941, an American film, stage, and television actress Veronica Lake first appeared with a brand new hairstyle: her blonde hair curled under at the ends was parted to the side, and her peek-a-boo bang occasionally slipped in front of her face covering one eye. Despite being so impractical, the trend exploded among U.S. women.

Are peekaboo highlights low maintenance?

High maintenance they are not! Peekaboo highlights are insanely low-maintenance and very manageable. The only thing you should consider if picking blonde peekaboo highlights is that you’d better tone them occasionally to keep the cold blonde color. Are peekaboo highlights low maintenance @funhaircolour

Who Should Get Peekaboo Highlights?

Peekaboo hair highlights can be worn by anyone. There are so many variations that literally every girl with any hair type, length, taste, and vision can find an appropriate option.

What Are The Best Colors For Peekaboo Highlights?

You are the one to choose. However, you should bear your skin tone in mind (at least, if it’s warm or cold) so that there isn’t a visual color conflict between your hair and your face. Among the most popular options now are electric blue, emerald green, subtle purple highlights, pink highlights, and all sorts of pastel peekaboo highlights. Conclusion Introducing peekaboo highlights into your style will give you a quirky and unique look. Great for short and long hair, straight and curly hair, thick and fine hair, peekaboo coloring can work for every type of hair. Another thing that peek a boo highlights provide is freedom: you can effortlessly hide the dye if it’s not allowed in the office and flaunt it when you wanna shine bright at a party or another event.

Having a baby is both an intensely gratifying and challenging experience. You meticulously track your cycles in an effort to increase the likelihood that you’ll conceive, you create seemingly unending to-do lists to ensure you’re adequately prepared for the arrival of your little one, and finally, you endure countless sleepless nights dealing with everything from constant crying to breastfeeding. Then, there are the postpartum concerns like hair loss which is understandably unnerving to many women.

There’s no denying that the early stages of motherhood are no walk in the park. Of course, these moments of anguish and sleep deprivation are interspersed with ones that feel impossibly gratifying. Your baby smiles at you, the first tight grip on your pinky finger, and all the other moments of tenderness shared between a mother and her newborn often bring a sense of unmatched joy. We want you to be able to focus on these special moments while still taking the time to care for yourself.

postpartum hair loss

If you’re dealing with postpartum hair loss and find yourself unsure of why or how to cope, we’ve got everything you need to know so you can put your mind at ease. Plus, we’ve got the scoop on how to combat the problem so you can enjoy full, voluminous hair while your hormones rebalance and your hair growth is restored.

Postpartum hair loss: why it happens

If you’re wondering what on earth is causing your postpartum hair loss, the first thing to note is that you are most certainly not alone. Whether you’ve noticed you seem to be losing a bit more hair than usual or you feel your hair is significantly thinning, rest assured that hair loss happens to many women after childbirth.

So, why exactly is this the case? Well, it starts with pregnancy. You may have noticed your hair felt particularly thick and shiny during pregnancy. That’s because of hormonal fluctuations that naturally occur and estrogen, especially, has a significant impact on your hair cycles. In short, the spike in estrogen that occurs in the body during pregnancy, coupled with the increased blood flow, slows down your normal rate of hair fall. Hence, the thicker hair that results. However, once you deliver your baby, these hormone levels drop causing sudden and significant hair fall.

This can be devastating at the onset but you can take solace in the fact that for most women, this typically isn’t more hair loss than what would have occurred over the past 9 months if you had not been pregnant, though it is happening in one large episode.

postpartum hair loss

When does postpartum hair loss take effect?

Postpartum hair loss typically begins 2 to 4 months after childbirth. In most cases, this is totally normal and your hair will restore itself naturally within 6 months to a year. Basically, if it feels like your hair is falling out in large chunks and you think you’re about to go bald sometime soon, don’t worry as this is just your body’s way of recalibrating and your growth patterns should go back to normal in due time.

What can you do about postpartum hair loss?

Experiencing hair fall after pregnancy is both natural and normal, so you can’t really stop it entirely. However, there are a few ways you can keep your hair healthy and prevent damage while it is replenishing itself, while also helping your hair look fuller.

We recommend keeping the heat styling to a minimum as this can cause unnecessary damage and also get rid of natural volume which will make your hair look fuller. As well, the styling process can be pretty rough (think round brushes and lots of pulling) which can accelerate the hair fall process, so it’s best to limit this wherever possible.

If you can’t live without your curling iron, then we definitely recommend using a heat protectant spray beforehand to limit the amount of damage.

postpartum hair loss

It’s also advisable to eat a balanced diet to help facilitate hair growth and help rebalance your hormones. Dark, leafy greens, fruit, healthy fats, and whole grains contain lots of essential vitamins such as iron, vitamin C, magnesium, and omega-3s. Some doctors may also suggest taking a multivitamin or continuing with your prenatal vitamin to help combat hair loss.

Apart from this, using natural hair care that’s aimed at adding volume back into your hair can be helpful at concealing bald spots or thinning

Of course, reducing stress is essential. This might mean taking long, relaxing baths, meditating, going for walks, and just taking the time to pamper yourself. Caring for a newborn can be a lot to manage so make sure to carve some time out of your schedule to give yourself some rest and relaxation.
