What does a typical day at Luxy look like for you?

My day starts off with a hot cup of chai and a quick scroll through my Pinterest feed (I’m obsessed with mood boarding). No two days are the same and my tasks are constantly evolving.

When I’m not experimenting with fonts and color palettes, a typical day involves designing anything from emails, promos, blog posts to researching and creating mood boards for the next launch. My favorite days are the ones where I am on set and you can find me art directing shoots or set styling.

Describe your WFH outfit

Two words: sweats and slippers – but elevated.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in this field?

Growing up in a South Asian household we are encouraged to pursue careers in law, medicine or teaching. I always found myself gravitating towards the arts and design and knew that this is where I am meant to be.

It was a tough internal battle but I knew with hard work I could prove the stigma around pursuing art and design as a career to be false. I eventually found myself learning the ins and outs of design and began to flow with my passion. Now I am here, doing what I love everyday.

Who is your hair inspo and why?

A hybrid between Kim Kardashian and 2000’s Avril Lavigne. Kim for versatility in styling and Avril for wearing her personality in her hair – through color.

Favourite thing about working at Luxy?

An incredible team that’s starting to feel like family, oh and the work perks.

What are your favorite emojis to use?

🤪🤍✨

What are 3 things you are grateful for and why?

I am grateful for a supportive partner – someone who subscribes to all my crazy ideas unconditionally. My open mind and ability to learn and adapt as life happens. And my family, the people who shape my life and inspire me.

What is your favorite snack?

Nongshim Ramyun Kimchi Noodles

Describe your self-care routine

At the end of the night, I take a shower, do my skin care, shut off my light, turn on my salt lamp and indulge in something “offline”, whether it’s painting or reading (sometimes a movie binge). Oh, and a little snack on the side.

Which social platform is your favorite and who do you enjoy following the most and why?

I enjoy using Tiktok. I don’t have a favorite user but I do love watching creatives share their experiences and projects.

What was the last book that you read that made a huge impact on your life?

A Place For Us – Fatima Farheen Mirza. It is one of the only books that I feel I can truly identify with on a personal level. It felt like watching myself through a telescope.

What is your daily mantra or words to live by?

An Urdu poem that my parents repeated to be my entire childhood.

“Khudi ko kar buland itna ke har taqdeer se pehle. Khuda bande se khud pooche bata teri raza kya hai.”

It means: ““Elevate yourself so high that even God, before issuing every decree of destiny, should ask you: Tell me, what is it that you desire?”

What’s your horoscope sign and how would you describe yourself in 3 words?

I’m a Leo. Someone who is bold, courageous and leads life with passion.
